what chance does 50 have to become the best game of all time?
I don't think it has much. I think if the Broncos win, it will be a slug fest filled with turnovers and if the Panthers win, it could get ugly. I just can't think of a scenario where it will be fun game to watch (compared to some of the great games). That said, if the Panthers win, it will be beautiful no matter what.

And among all of those, its probably Favre vs Elway.
This is what I came in here to post. Den-GB is a massive omission from the poll.
Probably would include it if I went to 15, but which of the currently listed would you have taken out?
Rams/Titans and Rams/Patriots had great finishes, but neither were what I would call great games.

Also, I wouldn't put Saints/Colts in this discussion at all. Good game, but great? Nah.
Yes, I am confused by the inclusion of Saints/Colts.

I don't remember why I listed it, but it got a vote!

On paper it doesn't seem like a good game but neither was Baltimore vs the Jets, Saint Louis vs New England or Green Bay vs Denver (which I think should have been included over Indy v NO). Sometimes crazy #### happens and you end up with a doozy.

True, you never know. I think this will be a close game, despite what the media is saying (amazing how 2 games turn us into huge favorites after not even being picked to win the NFC at the start of the playoffs). That said, if it is a close game, I think fans might be disappointed in the lack of fireworks.

I think the spread is somewhere around 6 points and I am pretty sure that while the Cardinals, Hawks and Packers had their fans I think most people had Carolina as the favorite to win the NFC.

Immortality Lost - Giants taking down the 18-1 Patriots who came oh so close to greatest ever status - as opposed to greatest ever Super Bowl runner up.

According to everything I saw, Arizona was the favorite. Links like this had Denver as the easiest path to the SB and had Arizona ahead of Carolina (this one had NE/Arizona at the top). DVOA ranked Carolina as 3rd behind Seattle and Arizona. I'm pretty sure every odds/picks I saw had Arizona atop the NFC because Carolina would likely have to beat Seattle and then Arizona.

We were all Giants fans that night.

There are lots of great games that come close, but none that had as much riding on the outcome with such great plays in the final few minutes.

When "the helmet catch" happened, I was sitting on the couch... a corner spot I reserved so I could have an unobstructed view for the first 10 min of the game, before the Pats went up by double digits and pulled away. Assumed I'd just get blitzed to not hear the obnoxiousness of the couple idiot Pats fans at the party.

There I was, at the end of the game, cold sober because I couldn't stop watching and was too nervous to even drink... when that ball stuck like a magnet to Tyree's helmet. We ALL jumped up, and next thing I know some chick just totally jumps, falls over the couch, and is just laying there in front of us like doing the worm, going crazy. I think we heard Manhattan just erupt at that moment.

If I'm a Pats fan that has to stick with you forever. That team has received ever accomplishment you can think of - but true immortality was completely denied to them that day. A place in history like none before, not even the annoying Dolphins... and even another SB win can't bring that back. Pretty crazy.

And, THANK GOD. Couldn't imagine a worse franchise and fanbase to deal with had they won than the Pats whiny crew of fans. Only rivaled by Dallas fans' stupidity (usually based upon the fact that they've never even stepped foot in Dallas)

As a huge Cards fan, I was at the Cards-Steelers super bowl in Tampa with 3 buddies. Even though the Cards lost, that was an amazing game. In 50 years of living, my team has never won the Super Bowl (Cards and Lions). It was amazing to be that close, and I will always cherish the memory of that game.

I still remember where I was at when the catch happened. The left corner of the couch in a friend's living room in Scottsdale. She has Super Bowl parties every year that are more like Mardi Gras parties, dozens of people, everyone in jerseys or hawaiian shirts, drinking a liquor concoction out of cored pineapples, shots and kegs, a full on rager. There were maybe ten of us inside the house glued to the tv during that drive. When Tyree came down with the ball the room erupted, everyone jumping and screaming and high-fiving. The rest of the party came in from outside to see what the hell was going on. Favorite Super Bowl moment of my life, until this Sunday when the confetti falls and the Panthers do a team dab at midfield.

I love it when people speak the truth. That said, Super Bowl 49 had everything you could possibly want. Incredible circus catches, defensive positional rivalries, great quarterbacks (two of the best in the game), and probably the most controversial coaching decision leading to the most riveting of plays at the finish of the game, which had been preceded by some great coaching by both teams (Carroll going for it on fourth, etc.).

Cards-Steelers would be my 2nd choice.

I was at the same house, same party, mostly same people as the post above. Being in Scottsdale this game was watched much more closely than the Pats-Giants game. What a roller coaster, so many big plays by both teams. Fitzgerald's TD catch induced a drunken frenzy and we all thought the Cardinals were going to get the storybook ending. Unfortunately Holmes and Big Ben had other plans.

I really hope the Cardinals can get back before Fitzy retires, that man deserves a ring.

good lord, you must have done something terrible in a previous life to have those 2 teams. Maybe not Hitler, but at least Mussolini.
