I'd honestly have to say this was the most entertaining Super Bowl I've seen. The fourth quarter of this game was awesome.

 
The 4th quarter and the impact of a team like the Giants beating a 18-0 team may make this the best for some but it was a pretty boring game for three quarters IMO. Rams/Pats, Panthers/Pats, Giants/Bills, and Packers/Broncos were more exciting and better games IMO. That Panthers/Pats game was a better 4th quarter to me.

ETA: Crap, Rams and Titans. That was the very best.

Great memories of that game too, Wife was a Packer fan looking for the repeat... Only thing is.. Denver led going into the 4th, Freeman scored early to tie it and then the 4th quarter was dead until a few minutes left and TD punched in #3 to win by 7. Just didn't have the same pop as this game winning drive that HAD to be made by Eli. A FG wouldn't do it, only a TD would and ELI did it. HE DID IT! LONG LIVE THE MANNINGS!!

You haven't seen that many then, the two Pitt/Dallas games were much better than this one, not to mention some of other ones that were better over the years, this one had a great ending, but the first three quarters were some of the worst ever in a SB...

The difference between the Jets and Colts was like the difference between this year's Patriots and this year's 49ers. SB III was a lot bigger upset.
 
I don't understand the comments of "nothing going on for three quarters". The most prolific offense of all time was shut down, that alone made a great game. Add in the lead changes in the fourth quarter, Awesome game!

Pitt Dallas ??? Please don't tell me you're talking about the Neil ODonnell superbowl.. lol... I'm sure you're referring to waaaaaaay back... and well, football wasn't this exciting then, no way.

:shrug: Watching that defense do it over and over again was a thing of beauty.
 
considering what was at stake for NE and the history on the line and the resulting game. Definitely the best, no doubt.

 
This game really does remind me of Supe XXIII (though I can go all Mercury Morris on the Pats here as my Bengals were ahead until 34 seconds left, not the chintzy 35 seconds the Pats were). But really in terms of the nip-n-tuck of the game it seems the most comparable, including the tragic ending. (I'm from New Jersey, we don't have a team.)

I loved the matchup of the Giants front seven up against the potent offense of the Patriots. I was enjoying every minute of the first three quarters for simply that reason.

The 4th quarter was the best quarter I remember watching in a Super Bowl (and I dislike both teams).

Football WAS more exciting then, you were able to actually hit people back then...Also, Yes, I was talking about the first two, both great games, there are better ones than those over the years, i was just using them as an example, for us older fans, this years SB was not one of the best, it was one of the best upsets, but as far as scoring it was pretty boring, and I didn't buy into the whole "undefeated, best ever" crap either, the league is getting watered down and it shows, yeah NY beat a very good team, but any more all you have to do is get to that ONE game and anything can happen...It now looks as though alot more teams have a shot to win one any given year now...
 
How have 50% of people voted "yes" to this? Seriously, this wasn't even CLOSE to the best Super Bowl ever. Not even in my top-5. Pick either SF-Cincinnati game from the 80's. Pick a Dallas-Pitt game from the 70s. Rams-Titans. These are just a few examples.

Don't get me wrong, this was a great game, but to call it best ever is absolutely crazy.

As a fellow Hawkeye fan, I couldn't agree more. This was the biggest Super Bowl upset of all time!! And to win with only 35 seconds to go? That has to rank as the best ever, especially when you consider they held the highest scoring team in NFL history to only 2 TDs.
 
Considering the hype of the "greatest team ever" trying to complete 19-0, the way the Giants' defense locked down the Pats machine, and the remarkable 4th quarter, it is certainly up there.

 
Super Bowl XIII was 35-17 with 7 minutes left, Dallas never led, it wasn't that great of a game.

I watched the game in a bar packed full of fans (80% Big Blue), and every play was intense. Awesome defensive game plan, and terrific final quarter.

Not as big of an upset as the Jets (nobody gave them - or any AFL team a chance. That shocked the world. This is a huge upset, but probably 2nd or 3rd (Pats over Rams was another shocker). But given what was at stake for the Pats, one of the best SBs ever.

:lmao: In no way were the first three quarters boring for the reasons mentioned. Big plays by offenses and defenses on a lot of third downs also led to the intensity of the entire game. As far as a storyline, I love the fact that the Giant defense kept them in the game for three quarters by playing almost as well as they could have hoped. Then when the defense ran out of gas, the offense finished off the Pats.

I agree. The funny thing is, I wouldn't even consider this much of an upset - the game looked like a typical ugly Pats win right up until that 32 yard pass to Tyree. The team that makes a living pulling wins out of their collective ### finally wasn't able to pull it off (much like the AFC Championship last year).As for greatest game ever, I'm a Pats fan but I'll begrudgingly admit I can see everyone else's side of it. For people that weren't on board with the NE steamroller this year tonight must have been incredibly cathartic. It was a pretty awful game for 3 quarters though.My prediction? The Pats haters will suddenly disappear, instead of coming out in full force like you might imagine. All the nonsense about spygate, running up the score, etc. etc., will finally fall into perspective now that the seemingly greatest team of all time DIDN'T go 19-0 and DIDN'T win the Super Bowl. 18-1. if the "dynasty," or whatever you call it now, can survive this and still compete for a SB next year, that would really be something.
 
The game absolutely sucked for 3 quarters, and a frenzied Fourth can't overcome that.

Some terrific plays, and an unexpected finish, but my all-time favorite is still St. Louis/Tennessee.

 
Although I don't think this was the best SB. Manning's pass to tyree was one of the greatest plays I've seen in the SB. Fantastic efforts by 2 players on a final drive is a memory I won't ever forget.

I'll still take Rams/Titans. Bruce's catch on the bomb and then Dyson's catch to the 1 were awesome. However, I can't remember as much of that game early on either, so it may be selective memory.

When you consider the quantity of "great plays" or momentum swings, this SuperBowl didn't have as many as some others, IMO.

 
Loved the result and couldnt be pumped up too much more because the Pats and mostly their coach and fans more than the players are scum but this game wasnt that great. Pats were outmanned by a team that was finally healthy. That is all I wanted all year was one team as healthy as the Pats to play them and they did, which they won. 'nough said.

 
That play where Eli escapes after it looked like it was a sack, runs off to the side, chucks up the ball and Tyree comes down with a great catch made a great game into the 'best' category in my mind.
