Best Value Pick In Your Rookie Draft (1 Viewer)

I watched helplessly (I did not have a pick in the first two rounds) as some lucky owner got Dwayne Bowe with the 16th pick. Anybody else have some players that dropped severely in their draft?

Kenny Irons went at 26... I had 1 and 2 Picked CJ at 1 and was supposed to trade Peterson, for Lynch, Matt Jones, Irons. That would have been fine, but the 3 pick ended up being Russell because the guy didnt show to the draft, and our preemptive trade gave me Russell instead of Lynch!@ I feel like i got screwed. I did actually. But supposedly the guy who got Lynch wanted Russell so it may still work. But yea, so lynch falling to 4 is a big one for me. Also Rice at 21.

i'm still trying to figure this out :goodposting: you had the 1st 2 picks. you had a predraft trade in place with the guy at 3. he didn't show, so they made a forced pick of russell. then they made you honor the predraft trade anyway? who had the 4th pick, the commish?why was team 3 given russell, why wasn't he just skipped? or given the lynch, the consensus 3rd best player. why was you forced to honor trade under changed circumstances?

Sidney Rice fell to 23rd overall...I almost took him @9 and again @16 (Quinn and Booker)

I took Rice 13th overall & felt he was good value at the spot (3 WR league with 1 point per reception - NON- IDP League).

Russell fell to me at 12 which I was surprised, even though most owners (12 teams) roster 3-4 qbs with the final roster cut in August to twenty.

Biggest surprise is that it's at pick 4 round 5 (of 5) and John Beck still on the board

Yes. Then the trade passed at the beginning of the draft. But he didnt show until later. The way the league works, they pick the highest NFL drafted player thats at a fantasy position. Which was Russell because he was 1. When the team i had the deal with showed up, he assured me that the team who had 4, who wanted Russell supposedly was going to trade him to me. So i didnt put up a fuss at the draft. Then for two days I try contacting the guy and he doesnt respond. I spoke to the commish about it, he said theres no much he can do, but hell talk to the guy who drafted lynch and see whats going on. I asked the guy who I traded with to add a clause of some sort that after 2 weeks if the guy with Lynch wont trade him, our trade reverts, because he didnt show up because he had "church" and he assured me the other guy would trade. He said hes really happy with the way his team looks now and he loves AP and doesnt know if he can trade back. Blah, if im stuck im stuck. But ill have to find another RB.

I had a few steals. I think I got great value with several of my picks.

16 team IDP dynasty.

2.11 - I took Kenny Irons. He was the 3rd back drafted in the NFL draft but he was the 7th RB drafted in this particular league. After Booker, Bush, and Henry. He also went after various reaches at WR and IDP positions.

3.6 - Brian Leonard. The most talented athlete left on the board. This guy has been a 1st round selection in many of the various dynasty drafts I've seen posted in here. At 3.6, I'll take my chances. I didn't like anything else that was staring at me here and this guy was head and shoulders better than anything else I could have picked up.

4.11 - Justin Durant - As Bloom put it: "he fell in my lap " :wall:

He just might move Peterson to WLB. I doubt he'll see action immediately, but he's certainly talented enough to play the MLB or WLB spot. Solid tackler and can cover the flats.

Gotta love it when talent falls to you in the later rounds. :goodposting:

You must be a big fan of three card monte.

From everything i've read Kenny Irons has to be the most underrated dynasty rookie i've ever come across.

he's falling to the 20th and later pick, that is bizarre.

I guess there are still a lot of people in dynasties who treat them more like redrafts.

I passed Brian Leonard in both rounds 1 and 2. Just don't like his situation. He'll be great for the Rams, but perhaps not so great for a FF owner. I think a lot of people feel that way. That's likely why he fell.

Yup - I just landed Irons in one dynasty league at the 33rd overall pick! Yet, in another dynasty league, he was gone at 12 - there really is no ADP for this guy, it seems...

ha, youd think but seriously, its not a money league so im just in it for the football on that end. So I dont expect it as much no. Whatever, ill end up beating them anyway somehow.

Sort of an eye of the beholder thing. Rudi's one of the most consistent and durable RB's in the league. Plus, Irons was injured for much of last year.

Agree on Irons. I can't remember a viable RB prospect who was so widely underrated in rookie drafts. It boggles the mind. A lot of people on the staff have Dwayne Wright and Antonio Pittman rated higher.

I got B.Leonard at 4.05 (pick 35 overall in a 10 Teamer.) Shoked that the S.Jax owner passed him up four times.

I don't know man. He's behind the young, productive, and indestructible Rudi, and he doesn't catch the ball that terribly well... which means that IF Perry ever gets healthy, Irons will be used sparingly for a long time.

Just snagged Sidney Rice at 2.07 in a 12 team PPR that starts 2-3 WRs.

ETA: Free agent vets were also available in this draft, but only one of them went before Rice (DJ Hackett at 2.03).

whenever i've seen something like this. i've often wondered what exactly makes an "expert", an expert. seriously, what are the qualifications? do you procaim yourself that, or does someone annoint you. i can look at any idiots draft and see brandon jackson 4th, and ginn 6th. we also all know that tony hunt is the 5th ranked rookie.

Not that this is any sort of steal or that hes a stud, but based on other dynasty zealot drafts, I sit waiting at 6.9 to select my last player and only one guy ahead of me to pick at 6.8.

Mike Walker, WR Jax is still available so if I get him, his ADP in zealots is in the 40s.

That would make me getting very good value on:

J Hill - 4.9

M Walker - 6.9

:banned:

11. Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR

12. Olsen, Greg CHI TE (TE get 2PPR)

20. Rice, Sidney MIN WR

26. Stanton, Drew DET QB

28. Hunt, Tony PHI RB

31. Gonzalez, Anthony IND WR

this is my draft so far in a 16 team IDP league.

scoring heavily favors TE and LB is weakest IDP position.

Rudi is very solid, but not an elite talent and he'll turn 28 during the coming season, those kind of guys don't have a bunch of guaranteed solid years ahead of them. Most teams don't pay a lot to 30+ yr old RB's unless they are top talents. Irons will get opportunity unless he really sucks, which is possible, but he had a solid college career and was thought of highly going into the draft.Irons did fall to the mid 2nd due to being banged up and not having a huge year, but he was still drafted fairly high for a RB.Here are the RB's drafted in the 2nd round since 2001.2001pick 38 - Anthony Thomaspick 49 - Lamont Jordanpick 58 - Travis Henry2002pick 34 - deshawn fosterpick 51 - Clinton Portispick 54 - Maurice Morrispick 56 - Ladell Betts2003 - NONE DRAFTED IN 2ND ROUND2004pick 41 - Tatem Bellpick 43 - Julius Jonespick 55 - Greg Jones2005pick 44 - JJ Arringtonpick 54 - Eric Shelton2006pick 45 - Lendale Whitepick 60 - Jones-DrewMost of those guys have gotten a shot at starting and had solid value at one time during their first couple years.I'm just saying, Irons is WAY more valuable then the 20th ranked rookie. He's a 2nd round NFL RB and at some point fairly early in his career he's likely gonna be given some solid opportunity. If you don't like him trade him when his value rises a bunch, which it mostly likely will as long as he shows any potential. If you think he's just a bad player then go ahead and pass, but i don't think many people feel he's a high % bust, which is the only reason i can see him being ranked so low.

It's still early in the draft, but in a 32 team league where every player is available twice, Brandon Jackson went at 1.08 and 1.22. 1.01-1.06 were the usual suspects (AD, CJ, ML), 1.07 was Bowe. 1.08 is about right, but 1.22 is a steal for a RB who should be starting immediately.

In Z10, which has a few FBGs in it, I traded out of 2.5 (which ended up being Ted GInn) and found myself with 4 third rounders, netting me the following. I was a bit surprised that all of these guys were available so late, but Davis was the big one.

3.2 (26)- Laron Landry

3.3 (27) - Drew Stanton

3.5 (28) - David Harris

3.6 (29) - Craig Davis

Antonio Pittman is still on the board, as are almost all of the non 1st round WRs, all the DL, and all the DBs not named Landry.

I got a lot of good deals (in my eyes) in Z6

3.03 27. Stanton, Drew DET QB ®

3.05 29. Beason, Jon CAR LB ®

3.06 30. Landry, LaRon WAS S ®

4.03 39. Leonard, Brian STL RB ®

4.06 42. Harris, David NYJ LB ®

5.05 53. Meriweather, Brandon NEP S ®

5.06 54. Weddle, Eric SDC S ®

Paul Posluzny at 3.03 (27th overall)

Doesn't compete with some of the huge values here, but I thought this was a huge drop - I had almost taken him at 2.06 (PPR league so I took Jarret) then when he kept falling I moved up from 3.07 to snatch him.

I think Landry dropping to the 3rd is big value. He's a top prospect walking in to a great situation at SS in Washington. I'm also surprised in Stanton dropping to the 3rd, often going behind Beck. Stanton will likely start a year ahead of Beck (IMO) and has Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, and for the time being, Mike Martz to work with. I like that a LOT more then Beck's situation.
