Better pickup: Lance Moore or Nate Washington? (1 Viewer)

Right now, both Lance Moore and Nate Washington are on the waiver wire. I plan on trying to pick up one. Who is the better play for the season moving forward? I am leaning towards Washington, but I am not 100% sold on Hasselbeck just yet.

Not sure who you would drop, but BOTH are intriguing picks going forward. Here are my personal pros/cons on both:

Nate's Pros: #1 WR in a passing game that is seeing life and seems to be healthy

Nate's cons: He was a #1 when he joined the team and went nowhere with it...also, now that Britt is out, it is the proverbial chicken/egg...has he been good on his own merits, or was he good because all the attention was on CJ and Britt?

Lance's Pros: He has done it before, Bush is gone and Brees has looked to him historically

lance's Cons: He is coming off an injury, Sproles has replaced Bush for looks, Colston will be back too and Henderson has done what is asked while he was out.

Basically, I think it is a crapshoot rating one over the other, BUT if you can afford to grab both, I would do it.

Thanks for the analysis. I would be dropping MSW for one of these. My other receivers are good.
Which one has Drew Brees throwing it to him?
Fair enough...

Even though Moore has Brees, I think Nate will be the "steady" safer play where Moore will be more explosive but could put up more duds.

For upside I'd go with Moore

Awesome, I love the posts that keep trying to ask questions about their team witout making it look like so.

there is a WW thread, try that.

I know you just joined...but there is a big banner at the top of the page.

Brees does tend to spread it around and didn't really focus on Moore until the 4th quarter of the Texans game, but I just don't like the Titans this year. Hasselbeck is old, fragile, and not as good (anymore) as he appears. Moore has put up really good numbers before in this offense. To me, this is an easy call to go with Moore.

Also, it would be awesome if this kind of thing was posted in the AC forum instead of the SP.

I'd rather have Nate. At least we know he's going to be cemented as a regular starter whereas Moore excels when Colston is out. Love Brees... but he spreads it around regularly so you cannot count on Moore when it comes to consistency. 0,1,23,9,5 (likely) isn't necessarily appealing.

I said it once, and I'll say it again.Lance Moore is a #1 WR in all formats with Colston out fo the lineup. If you dont realize that Moore is the guy when Colston is out, you dont watch much Saints football. That, "didnt target him to the 4th Qtr" statement is the worst argument a person can have...considering there are 4 quarters in a game, and they all count.

Most questions have some sort of personal component to it. And I didn't try to hide anything. I mentioned my waiver wire in my initial question. I debated whether to put this question in the AC forum, but it seemed to be general enough that it might apply to many people looking at the waiver wire this week for WR since Britt is out for the season. Admins, please feel free to move this thread to the AC forum if that is more appropriate; but looking at some of the questions in the SP, I don't think I did anything so out of the mainstream to warrant it being made an example of. I wasn't trying to "pull one over" on anyone. Sometimes the line is blurred on which forum a post belongs. But, to each his/her own, I guess. It's all good though. Thanks for the insight everyone.

And you sound like someone striving for entitlement on a message b/c you can't get it anywhere else it life.

Kill this thread. It's like watching cry babies whine over the same pacifier. Waiver pickup questions go to the AC forum. If not then subscribe and use their Monday waiver/upgrade feature.

Settle down, Beavis. Everyone knows that all 4 quarters count, although I know you think that was a sharp, witty retort. (It wasn't). I like Moore and tried to get him in every league. I consider him a WR2 with potential to break into the low-end WR1 category going forward. But the fact that he and Brees didn't really connect until they were in a passing frenzy is a little concerning as a Moore owner. Unlike you, I try to look for positives and negatives for my players rather than freak out when people say something that could be construed as negative about a player I own.Plus, if Moore was "the guy" while Colston was out then why didn't Brees look for him when the game was closer? I'm not sure you are watching the games. Again, I like Moore and think he'll be solid going forward even when Colston returns, but I'm just trying to be the devil's advocate here.

I'm going with Moore. How many times have you seen a #1 go down and how many times did the #2 really benefit? The Washington type will get too much defensive attention once the other team has time to game plan around it.

If you were in my league I'd tell you or somehow subliminally message to you that Nate Washington would be the guy to take. Then as the next waiver wire progresses I'd end up with Lance Moore.

Keep in mind Colston has 2 bum knees. I'm not even sure Matt H can finish a season. Teams will game plan to stop C2K and Nate Washington. I was never really impressed with Nate even when he was a steeler.

I would go with the new #1 WR in TN. Washington is not a great WR but he is good enough on a solid O.

The problem with L Moore is that NO spreads the ball around all the time.

:goodposting: I make it a point to call it out in every thread.I dont care how hated I am for it, I find it odd more people get on me for calling it out, then people get on these pathetic threads that have their own place.IN THE A/C FORUM.

Normally I would shave this down to just your comment and I have to say that I understand your POV...however you can also look at this thread as possibly "Who will be better the rest of the way" and to that argument I found the thread had some merit. Both of these guys in most of my leagues are NOT on the WW or I would own them already however they both can probably be bought for the right price and so for owners that need to make a trade or want to move one of these guys I think the discussion is worthy and belongs in the SP over and above the intentions of the OP. What other terrific threads have there been in here today? Now why don't you spend your energy getting us the best sleepers this week ;) and not worry so much about the OP. If it were truly bad no one would read and respond and the mods would move it or delete it. I haven't stepped foot in the A/C forum and while I understand why a lot of threads end up there, you also need to discuss certain hot players of the week and I think these two are worth discussing. Cheers JC

Over the last few years, Moore has way too many games where you barely knew he played, and this de facto #1 stuff with Colston out is nonsense - he won't get the same numbers because he's a different kind of receiver . . .
