Big Ben: "Maybe I don't have it anymore." (1 Viewer)

It's not the kind of thing you say in front of a mic / media scrum if you actually think it might be true.
Agree. It’s a weird statement and glad others provided context such that it seems like a non-story, but notable enough for me to think that where there is smoke in Ben’s mind....

Ben has been around the media enough to know how and what to say even when exasperated and pissy. Even a Denny Green-like meltdown usually doesn’t have the coach or player effectively rolling over and showing their bellies like this.

Likely nothing but I do find it notable psychologically.

He certainly hasn't been playing as well as he has in years past, but honestly, how many of those interceptions were off tipped balls?  3 at least?

If I were to blame anyone on yesterdays loss, it would be on Haley and the play calling.

It wasn't just the INTs though.  He was pretty erratic all day.  Even the completions did not seem very smooth for the most part.  He definitely seems like he's lost a tick in accuracy this year.  Couple that with his inability to escape pressure and you have what appears to be a very mediocre QB.

I believe that there are some very real locker room issues going back to (at least) last season and it has carried over and is coming out on the field. The once stable Steelers organization is now a sea of distractions; the locker room/FB clip last year, the massive AB contract, Ben's "I might retire" stuff, Bell's hold out, Anthem craziness... seems like nobody is on the same page.

As an Antonio Brown owner this statement doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence for the rest of the season

So this new shift to a quick read/dink & dunk approach (vs bomb's away)... was this implemented to try and keep Ben healthy, or specifically to beat the Pats, or to make it easier on Landry Jones during his annual 3-4 game stretch, or other?

Whatever the reason, it doesn't seem to suit the Killer B's.

One thing I will say is there is a lot of "sky is falling" sentiment going on for a team that is 3-2.  Yes this team looks to have a lot of issues but they still have a ton of talent as well.  This is basically the same offense from last year that made it to the AFC championship game.  I don't think it's too late to fix the issue (they are still in first place in the division).  They've had a couple very bad losses.  I'm curious to see how they respond next week in KC.

To me Ben’s comments sounded sarcastic. What do you want the guy to say after a loss to Jacksonville at home? I freggin hate media being in their faces right after a game. These guys are all emotional and if they just lost that emotion is pissed off. I personally read nothing into it, I think Ben was just sarcastically answering one more moronic media question. He’s probably going to throw 5 tds next week, he’s a must start.

Well if the first 5 games tell us anything, Pittsburgh is gonna get their asses kicked

I think there's something going on here as well. Having to feed both Bell and Brown and keep the delicate "ecosystem" in balance isn't a new situation. Maybe this is like that Lennon-McCartney beginning of the end scenario?

The next question after he says maybe he doesn't have it anymore is "does doubt ever effect how you play" or something like that and he immediately says "NOPE".  So.....

Well if it is I hope it ends up on a high note like Abbey Road

Spot Started Big Ben off the wire for Matt Ryan’s BYE.

My buddy who dropped him kept texting me with every pick.

“FOISTED!!!”

What shocks me even more is Pittsburgh apparent lack of planning when Ben is done/injured.
Do the Saints have a plan?  Chargers?  Giants?

The Pats are the only team I can think of paying to keep Plan B on the Roster (Garrapolo)....and they have been criticized for doing so.

Tough league.  Tough media / fan critics.

Looking for good news here, and I think I found it.

Steelers are playing at KC this week, so I think we'll have a final answer by Monday.

Me too, because best case scenario they end up back there in January with a SB berth on the line. Current path has them missing the playoffs (just based on clinging to a win over Cleveland, then getting dumped by the Bears and Jags). The Big Ben/offense issues are one thing, but the way they lost to CHI and JAX are equally troubling.

The offense needs work for sure, but the way they lost to the Bears and Jags was the inability to stop the run on defense, and yeah that's very troubling with K. Hunt on the horizon.

Regarding Ben's quote - when I first read the quote I thought it was terrible and though Ben was doing the whole drama queen thing.  But then I heard the clip and it's not nearly as bad.  In fact, I think his entire set of comments were good.  Right after the "maybe I don't have it anymore" quote he was asked if doubt is creeping in and he said "nope!".  Then answered some other questions with one word answers.  Then answered more questions with "I have to play better", so to me he was just pissed and did a decent job of owning it and taking the heat off everyone else.

Let it be

The defense was doing a pretty good job up until the pick-fest began. The Steelers were up 9-7 in 3rd quarter and had just stopped the Jaguars on a 3 and out.

I was expecting (or hoping) the Steelers were going to dial up the running game and grind out a nice time consuming TD drive.Instead they insisted on throwing the ball against the #1 passing defense and we all know how that worked out
