I'm curious what are everyone's thought on the chance that Bigby holds off Rouse?
I would think that Bigby/Rouse would end up being the starters. Collins isn't very good, imo.Would Collins remain the other starter at safety or could Bigby and Rouse end up ad the 2 starters?
Collins is pretty talented but he had a down year last year. I'm not so sure he will lose his starting job to Rouse. It will be an interesting off season with Rouse and Bigby - Bigby reminds me a little of a poor man's Bob Sanders. He is fearless in his attacks and the man does know how to wrap up and tackle -a lost art. He does have to learn not to take stupid penalties and work more on his coverage. He is out of place more than he should be if he wants to stay the starter. He did hold off Rouse all year though......My 2 centsI would think that Bigby/Rouse would end up being the starters. Honestly, that video is not all that impressive. He's definitely big, but I saw a lot of arm tackles that had smaller ball carriers still falling forward, and not a lot of athleticism or game speed. He's built at first glace a lot like the late Sean Taylor, but he doesn't nearly have Taylor's athleticism.HERE is some video on Rouse from college.
technically.. he did hold off rouse.. but rouse got hurt 2 games after he started starting...pretender said:Collins is pretty talented but he had a down year last year. Does he do thisHERE is some video on Rouse from college.
I've got all three guys on my different rosters, Rouse on one and Bigby and Collins on another. My understanding is that Bigby and Collins are the starters, with Collins at FS and Bigby at SS. Rouse is likely the second best S out of the three, but the problem is that he's more of a SS, which is what Bigby plays. Collins is better in coverage, which is why he remains the starter. That's my impression of the situation anyway, though I'd point out that both the Packers' and NFL.com's depth charts list Rouse as a backup at FS to Collins. Rouse sounds to me like the guy to have longer term over Collins; assuming Bigby continues to play well, his starting job is safe for the forseeable future.bump..Is it still Bigby vs. Rouse or is it Collins vs. Rouse? Rouse has been putting up solid tackle #'s this preseason. I haven't seen any GB preseason games though. Has he been lining up at SS or FS? Is he running with the starters?
As a Packer homer this is right on. Bigby has a slight injury right now so Rouse will probably put up some nice numbers to end the preseason against TEN on Thursday as well. Rouse isn't that great is practice but in teh games he is always around the ball and might be worth a look if he ever wins a starting job in Green Bay.I've got all three guys on my different rosters, Rouse on one and Bigby and Collins on another. Collins is the starting FSSS is a crap shoot but the leader in the offseason clubhouse is BigbyA banged up group last year and now Anthony Smith in the mix. Any front runners here?
I just read from the Milwaukee Journal sentinal that Bigby is the starter and they expect him to be the Polamalu of their defense. That sounds promising.any updates on this battle ?
It doesn't if you have Rouse on your roster!!!sportsmonkey_j said:I just read from the Milwaukee Journal sentinal that Bigby is the starter and they expect him to be the Polamalu of their defense. That sounds promising.any updates on this battle ?

And also if you cut Bigby last year from your other roster.

Where does Rouse's "unreliability" come from? Is he weak in pass coverage?this speculation doesn't sound good for Rouse....
Another option is Rouse (6-4, 223), a third-round draft pick in 2007 who has been far too unreliable, in part because of injuries, and isn’t a lock to make the team.

Envision a center fielder in baseball that doesn't get a good read from the crack of the bat...that's Rouse. He also isn't the best tackler, lacks elite speed, and generally has his head up his butt on at least one play a game. Can you tell I'm not a fan of his?Where does Rouse's "unreliability" come from?
