A little history. These allegations resurfaced when Hanibal Burress referenced them in a comedy set, and the clip went viral on social media. As this was occurring, someone in Cosby's social media camp, on behalf of Cosby, posted a challenge to the Socialsphere to "Meme Me". As you may imagine, the Meme was not cute and celebratory like some 25 year old social media maven probably thought it would be - rather it was squarely rooted in a rape theme. As news of this was spreading like a wild fire, this thread was started.

In a strange twist, if the "Meme Me" gauntlet were not thrown, it's quite likely that this story would have again died.

The condemnation of Cosby is not nearly as universal as you'd think. Cosby performed twice the past few days and received standing ovations both times. Obviously, the audience reception is skewed by the fact that the only people likely going to Cosby shows these days are ardent supporters, but nonetheless they are out there.

In comment sections of articles and Facebook posts, I'm also seeing a fair number of Cosby supporters. Most of the supporters argue either that we only have accusations against Cosby with no hard evidence, while others argue that we must presume innocence until a guilty conviction (even though none of these cases will go to court due to the statute of limitations.)

You'll get some wingnuts saying stuff like it's a feminist ploy to bring down a famous man, or it's a white racist ploy to bring down a famous black person, or it's a Liberal ploy to try to bring down a black man who stresses to other blacks the importance of education and family over government handouts. Dead serious, I've seen all those arguments.
