blocked sites (1 Viewer)

How are you getting in here?
The Admin responsible for blocking sites use's this site.Only way I can guess this site hasn't been blocked here and that the ESPN FF site went from BANNED to available 1 month into last season.NTTIAWWT ;)

I work at a company with an office inside the building of a much larger company. My company has a very liberal internet use policy, as long as, it is during breaks or after hours. However, the week that Bush signed the gambling bill, the company that owns the building (we use their network to connect to the internet) cracked down hard on all fantasy football sites.

I can still access the FBG's forums, ESPN, and NFL.com but not FBGs.com, MFL.com, or any other league hosting service.

I found the IP address of FBGs with the nwtools site, but the IP was blocked.

I tried workfriendly.net and a website that came up when I typed "anonymous" into google, but they were both blocked.

I will try those at home and see if there is anything I can download and bring to work.

Until then, is there anyone who succeeded in accessing blocks sites? How did you do it?

If you're truly desperate, use PC Anywhere or something similar (remonte desktop, logmein) to log into your home computer, and use it to access the sites you want. The network will just show the IP of your home computer.

Or try virtual browser:

Thank you, I will look at that site from home tonight (it is blocked here of course)
I think remoting to your home computer may be the best approach. logmein is free.

The proxy sites are very likely to be blocked. Like one of the posters said above me, remoting into your home PC is probably the best solution, although if there is an IDS on your network perimeter it might pick up that traffic. Or the company router might be blocking that type of traffic.

My suggestion: Pay off your sysadmin.

Thank you. There is no way to discuss this with the system admin person so I am likely out of luck, but I will look at some f these ideas.

Enter the URL into Google and read the cache. It'll be a day or two behind, but it could work in a pinch. Or see how old the page is in archive.org.

I have tried several proxy sites now (and even know what a proxy site is) and you are correct none of them work. Except for one, possibly. I found mention of using the google language translator to proxy sites for you. Go to: http://www.google.com/language_tools. Supposedly, there is a way to translate from english to english, but I haven't figured that out yet. I have successfully loaded FBGs.com in spanish though (If I only would have paid attention in spanish class 20 years ago I might be able to read it). I don't think I am technically sound enough to try remoting to my home computer yet.

Translate from English to French or whatever. Then, in the URL in your browser, replace "fr" with "en" where it says "langpair=en%7Cfr". Now your languages are English to English.Or, you could just translate from Spanish to English. Since there's no spanish on the page, it'll skip all the English words and leave them alone, IIRC.

Thank you, that worked, kind of. I can view FBGs.com and MFL league hompages, but I cannot log in on either. So I could not do any roster moves or look at subscribers info. I think I have had enough of this. I have got the "This website is blocked by XXXX administration" notice at least 50 times in the last couple days. I think I better lay off it for a while.

My next idea is to piggyback a wireless connection. My workstation is a laptop so it has a wireless card in it. I do not get any signals at my desk, but perhaps if I can boost my signal I can get a connection. I have researched wireless access points a bit and think I will order the Linksys WAP54G. I should be able to set this up in a window and set it to repeat the signal to my laptop.

Anyone with experience doing this?

Some companies choose to "block" access to the myfantasyleague.com site since they (or their firewall software vendor) deem the web site to be not work related. If you're currently having problems accessing the site from work, the following instructions will show a work-around that might help you circumvent this block.

But first, an important disclaimer!

Please note that most companies these days have very strict policies regarding what is appropriate and inappropriate uses of company computers. Some companies may go as far as to have a policy stating that if you do attempt to circumvent their "blocking" efforts, what the consequences would be to you. So, we strongly encourage you to not just blindly follow these instructions if you are having access problems from inside your corporate network, but first, find out about any company policies that might be in place, and the penalties for violating those policies.

You have been warned!

(Again, only follow these instructions if you are having problems accessing the site from inside a corporate network that is "blocking" access to your myfantasyleague.com league pages.)

1. Figure out what server your league resides on. To do that, either go to your league home page from home (or someplace else from where you're not blocked), or ask one of your league mates what server you are on. The "server" is the part of your league home page address after the "http://" - so, if your league home page address was, say, http://football5.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/12345 , the "server" would be football5.myfantasyleague.com.

2. Given your "server" listed above, look up your "IP Address" in this table below.

football.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.226football2.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.230football3.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.232football4.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.234football5.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.236football6.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.238football7.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.240football8.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.242football9.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.244football10.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.246football11.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.248football12.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.250football13.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.254football14.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.2football15.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.4football16.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.6football17.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.252football18.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.8football19.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.10football20.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.12football21.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.20football22.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.22football23.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.24football24.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.26football25.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.28football26.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.30football27.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.113football28.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.29.228football29.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.115football30.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.117football31.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.119football32.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.121football33.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.145football34.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.147football35.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.149football36.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.151football37.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.153football38.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.155football39.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.157football40.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.56.159football41.myfantasyleague.com = 64.73.31.1273. Given your original league home page address, replace the "server" part of the address with the "IP address" above, which will give you your "alternative home page address". In other words, if your original league home page address was http://football5.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/12345 , your alternative league home page address would be http://64.73.29.236/2006/home/12345 4. From inside your corporate network, try going to your "alternative league home page address" - most, but not all, blocking software will not be able to block based on this new address, so hopefully you will be able to get through.

Thanks but no luck. I can't imagine that some admin person typed in all those IP addresses, including all other league hosting sites, but I guess they did.
No, the sys admin just takes care of the software. the database of sites that are blocked (and their corresponding categories) are routinely updated by the system itself from the software company.another tip: there is an excellent chance that the hits are being logged so if you are continually trying to get to the site it may be noticed. depends on how thorough management is. if you reaaaly need to keep trying to get through the system go to someone elses computer (while their user is logged in) and try.... :bag:

Yes, I am worried about hitting the blockpage. I am not going to try anymore for awhile.

Work in a Fortune 100 company, and they just now blocked all sites pertaining to sports.

Why, you may ask? So many people were streaming the World Cup, it interfered with payroll processing.
