Bloom's 3 round mock (1 Viewer)

I find it interesting that so many mock drafts out there (not singling your out bloom) have so many WRs getting taken in the first in a draft class that has no true first round graded WRs. Most people compare this WR group to that of 2006 (Holmes, Jackson, ect.) where only 1 was picked in the first round and that was extremely late. I think I counted 6 WRs going in that first round. Moreover, all 6 are slated to go by pick 25. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see any way that happens. I will concede that there are certainly a lot of teams who will be looking for WRs. I just can't see that many teams "reaching" for them in the first. Especially not in a draft that is deep with 2nd tier talent at the position. :goodposting:
Thats a valid point - I like a healthy Kelly, Thomas, and Jackson as first rounders for sure (although Jackson is because of his added value as a returner). Hardy is tougher because he's a classic big receiver that a team could decide they *have* to get, but he's also got character questions. Sweed, I dont buy as a first rounder on the field, but he's got top intangibles. Doucet is by far the most questionable, and I agree with a point made on this board that their best angle is to trade down into the 2nd and get their WR there.I could easily have just 3 in the first, or even 2 if Kelly's workout is a dud.
I agree with Bloom here. IMO, anyone who thinks this class doesn't have a first round WR just doesn't have a great handle on the value of these players. Thomas, Kelly, and Jackson are definitely worth a top 30 pick. I think most teams also feel that way about Sweed. Hardy is no worse than many of the recent first round picks. Consider the following:Ted Ginn

Robert Meachem

Anthony Gonzalez

Craig Davis

Santonio Holmes

Troy Williamson

Matt Jones

Mark Clayton

Roddy White

Michael Jenkins

Rashaun Woods

Bryant Johnson

Plenty of marginal receivers have been picked in the first. I expect that trend to continue. Even with the quality depth available this year, I look for at least 3-4 receivers to come off the board in the first.
3-4 is not 6. I can see 3-4 going in the first based off of sheer need of some teams, but 6. No way. I still don't think 3-4 of these WRs are really worth 1st round picks. Especially when you consider who teams can get by simply waiting until round 2.
0 WRs taken in 1st round.

Desean Jackson so totally reminds me of Roscoe Parrish. Same size. Same elite quicks. Same top notch punt returner. So-so slot receiver. Not-a-great every down player. Too small to get off the bump. Too small to go over the middle.
Perfect for the Eagles.
