Bobby Engram Out 6-8 Weeks (1 Viewer)

Sorry in advance if this is a serious of stupid questions, but here goes...

Seattle runs a West Coast offense... correct?

Isn't between 50 - 75% of their offensive scheme 3 WR sets?

If Branch and Engram are both out for the first 3 games (hypothetically), won't Burleson + 2 of the other guys (maybe Obamanu and Taylor) all see a lot of time?

Look at the details here. He is NOT going on the PUP - but will be on the 53 man roster. That means they expect him not to be out 6 weeks.
He has to be on the 53 man roster. Player's are not eligible to be placed on the regular season PUP list once they have practiced. Once they practice, it's either roster or IR.

Sorry... one more point.

If all of the above are true and Hasselbeck traditionally throws for 4000 yards a season... its fairly safe to assume that 800 - 900 of those yards would come in the first 3 games against pretty bad D's.

I'm thinking a Seattle WR or 2 (Burleson, Obamanu, Taylor, etc...) might be a really good late pick to roster at the start of the season and round out the draft with.

The bottom line on this one is that Seatt'es management (and us) will know what types of young players Obamanu and C.Taylor are by mid September rather than having the excuse of a lack of opportunities. I dont expect Engram's injury to have a huge impact on fantasy overall, Nate Burleson is a decent player, so I would be happiest if I owned him at this point considering the TE is a rookie and the other WRs are young and unproven.

What does this do to Nate Burlesons Value???Ive drafted Burleson with confidence a month back and thought he was on road for a breakout season without hacket and branch in there. Now engram??!! Hassebeck threw for 4,000 yards last year, this has to boost Burlesons value tremendously right????
I don't think it's necessarily an upgrade for him - while he'll probably get more targets, I don't think he's good enough to take advantage of the increased coverage he'll draw.
Not pretending I can figure out whether he'll produce or not but, he certainly handled it OK that one year in Minny.
He did do well that one year in 2004, but that was one year four years ago, and he had some help:Jermaine Wiggins 71 705 4 Nate Burleson 68 1006 9 Randy Moss 49 767 13 Marcus Robinson 47 657 8 It also helped that Culpepper had a monster season, with 39 TDs/11 INT/4717 yards. If Hasselback can somehow pull that off, then maybe Nate is destined for some good things this year.
I think Nate's average at best. He might be OK as a complimentary WR but I don't see Seattle with a stud so that's kinda pointless. Your point about dealing with the extra attention...I don't see Burleson, Obamanu, or Taylor attracting too much.I don't think Burleson is going to get more or less than the others.

No, he didn't. He was awful without Moss there to take coverage away.
he had 1000 yards and even did well when Moss was out that year.I think you've got Burleson moving to the opposite WR position. I'm not figuring he switches positions just for 3 weeks.

Engram started on one side, Burleson was opposite him. Taylor was Engram's backup, not Burleson

2005 when Moss was not on the team Burleson had 328 yards and 1 TD in 12 games. He averaged 10.9 y/c and 27.3 y/g.2004 was the year Burleson had 1000 yards, but Moss was on the team. Moss did miss games though. Burleson played well with and without Moss that year. I was talking about 2005, and you were talking about 2004.

i'm missing something. when did WR's coming off a career year, with 94-1140-6, become classified as sleepers?

i think it's time for that term to officially be retired.

:goodposting: I don't think a lot of people who weren't looking at him last year are all that high on him this year because of his age, is all.

I don't think it was his age last year as much as it was Branch and Hackett being ahead of him, among others.

I am not very worried, the seahawks have three seemingly easy games then a bye week.

think they'll sign any FA vets? looking over the FA list I see (last signed team from 2007)...Doug Gabriel (Cincinatti)Jerome Mathis (Redskins)Cedrick Wilson (Steelers)Malcolm Floyd (Charger)plus Kyle Brady was just released from the Patriots at TE ...
Wow. Not a sexy list.Just for the entertainment value, I'd like to see David Boston get a look.
Question, what about Adarius Bowman? Last info I read on him was he had a big game in the CFL. Is he just not NFL material? Is it because of his drug bust or is it because he is not talented enough?I guess he seems like a better choice over Gabriel, then again, who isn’t?
I guess it was a stupid question. Not even worth the time to reply to.

I too would like to see Bowman get a chance somewhere. The drug stuff seems to have scared everyone away.
