Boise State - anyone go there? (1 Viewer)

My daughter is seriously considering Boise State for her undergrad in athletic training. The school looks pretty cool online, but it's hard to get the feel for the place without visiting. We are planning to head up there in the next few weeks, but I'm just wondering if anyone has gone there and had any insight.

TIA

Ryan Finley, who played for Paradise Valley High School, is their quarterback now. I'm sure this is helpful for you.

I know nothing about the University but I've spent a fair amount of time in the city and it's surroundings---wouldn't be a bad place to live.

I live here. Moved here five years ago.

My son is a freshman at BSU living on campus.

My daughter also went to BSU for a year.

It's a great place to live.

Let me know if you have any questions...

I know a bit about Boise State. I looked at a job there a few years ago and recently sent somebody there to take a job. I would expect their athletic training program to be above average. Boise is a cool town. What interests your daughter about their program?

We are looking for a school in the Western states that has a good Athletic Training program. Boise State keeps popping up, and she has gotten pretty interested.

Any feedback on the rep of the school out in industry? It's hard to find that kind of stuff online.

Are there nice places to go around campus? I'm sure she will want to get out a little bit...

How's campus life and school spirit - is it pretty traditional in that sense/

And how about the weather?

Boise St. is like smack dab in the middle of Boise. Boise feels like the safest town in the world. You know what I see every time I drive through their main drag? Fit people running everywhere. Seems like a city that gets outdoors and enjoys activity a lot. Can get cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but really, it's an arid region with some gorgeous sunny days. Jokes about not having clouds. River rafting through the city, access to lakes and cabins, fishing, hiking, skiing....really close.

that's just my unprofessional opinion. My aunt and uncle live there and I love visiting. Their house is on a hill that overlooks the stadium with the blue turf. Neat neat neat town, IMO.

This is pretty accurate.

Everyone on bikes also.

Downtown is a mile from campus and has many great places to eat, drink and listen to music. It's not a large downtown and it's very east to get around.

Weather.... just changed this week to fall mode. It's dry here, but not as bad as Vegas. The rest of Idaho sucks during the winter. I've only seen about 50 inches of snow in 5 years and 20 of those fell on two days. It's mostly 40-45 for a high in winter, 25-30 for the low, with one week of 16 high, 4 low. Heavy jacket does the job and you get used to it very quick.

People here are very cool. Hardly any traffic at all. Area is growing like crazy because it's so affordable to live here.

My son is in the freshman engineering dorm and he loves it. There is decent housing near campus both new and old. You rarely find anyone complain about Boise or BSU.

If she is doing athletic training she will be most likely be doing grad school as well. The grad program she chooses will probably be more important for her job prospects than undergrad. If she does well at Boise State she would not struggle to get into good grad programs.

The weather is similar to a lot of other places in the rookies region and depends a lot on wind direction. It can be brutal cold or really nice in the winter. It is hot and sunny in the summer.
