Boldin to have knee sugery (1 Viewer)

* Ravens WR Anquan Boldin will undergo knee surgery today to repair a minor tear in his meniscus. He's done for the regular season, but Baltimore believes he'll be back for the playoffs. "It's a two-week thing,” said HC John Harbaugh. “It's two weeks and he'll be back for the playoffs, whatever round we happen to play in. It will be a little bit tighter if we have to play in the first round.” In the meantime, Torrey Smith will take over as the team's #1 WR, with WR Lee Evans moving into the starting lineup as the #2. The Ravens will continue to go extremely run-heavy, though, so neither guy is a strong fantasy play.

$#*@!!!! And I have to be playing Ray Rice this week. He was already gonna have a monster day....now he's probably gonna be unreal.

(**Although with CJ2K suckin/hurt, and Steven Jackson having Pittsburgh...maybe Ricky Williams is a sneaky pickup).

Torrey Smith will be matched up with Hayden now, right? So, not worth the pickup or is he? Where do you all rank him now?

Not sure how I feel about this as a manager with Torrey in the lineup . . . I was pretty excited about the prospect of Haden locking up Boldin and opening the door for some big stats for Smith.

EDIT: I believe Haden plays one side though, now that I think about it. I seem to recall Haden on one side only regardless of where Wallace lined up when the Steelers / Browns had the prime time game. Should be great for Torrey, if that holds true.

Baltimore is still going to throw the football. Ray Rice's day may have gotten tougher without Boldin - I'm sure he'll be ok, but it's easier to run blitz, line up with 8 guys in the box more often. If Cleveland does do this, Evans or Smith could have some plays down the field on tap.

AS a Torrey Smith owner I'm torn. I too would like to be opposite Haden, but you have to imagine that this means that he gets more looks. Plus teams respect lee evans speed and the TES ( dickson and pitta) have had their moments. There are still plenty of places for flacco to throw the ball. I don't see the Ravens altering their offense too much because boldin is out.

Isn't Haden a little banged-up? I REALLY like Torrey this week.... Cameron just can't help himself--even in a game they can win easily by running Rice/Ricky 40 times, he'll take shots in the passing game. One less mouth to feed w/ Boldin out

Baltimore ran it 50 times for almost 300 yards in their first matchup a few weeks ago. Flacco threw 23 times, completing only 10. The receivers were led by Pitta with 3-47. With them winning easily, why would anyone expect much of a change?

(RotoWire) Evans figures to see an expanded role starting Saturday against the Browns, with Anquan Boldin expected to miss the final two weeks of the regular season, the Ravens' official site reports. Analysis: With just four catches for 74 yards in seven games to date, Evans' impact in the Ravens' passing offense has been minimal, but for those scrambling for a Boldin replacement, he's worth a dart.
