We've always had double points for FGs over 50. The only guy that really makes/takes them with any consistency is Janikowski. He should be the first kicker off the board if there are bonus points. After that, it is pretty much a crap shoot for guys hitting 50+ yard kicks.
Even if you tripled the value of field goals, the answer of when to take a kicker is still basically the same: in one of the last two rounds with your defense, or for $1. Regardless of their value in terms of actual points scored, the difference between the top kicker and the last startable kicker is still relatively small. Add in the relative difficulty in accurately predicting their point totals, and there's no reason to reach for a "stud" kicker.
(Side note: We give +1 bonus for 40-49 and +2 for 50+, but also penalize -2 for missed 1-39 and -1 for missed 40-49. With those values, and using Herman's kicker predictions, Janikowski isn't even in the top 12).
