Brandon Lloyd is now a Patriot (1 Viewer)

Lloyd has flourished under Josh McDaniels but has lots of competition for targets. I'm thinking he's a top 20 WR but not top 10, as there are too many other weapons. Welker alone will probably catch 100 passes, while Gronk and Hernandez will continue to play their roles. Thoughts?

I think if anyone suffers its Hernandez, not directly obviously. That being said, I dont think anyone suffers and Brady manages ~450 completions (50 more than hes ever had).70/1200/10 for Lloyd (hoping).

I think it solidifies Lloyd as a stable WR2 option in the top 20. He played very well in St. Louis with a mess at QB.

I will be targeting him as a value next year for depth (if not a starter).

I think we all have no idea how the targets/yard/TDs will shake out next year so the only 100% reliable Patriot is Brady!

I'd temper my expectations somewhat... this continues a series of older receivers the Patriots bring in... Joey Galloway, Torry Holt, Chad Johnson. While Lloyd isn't quite as old, there is still the question of how well he learns their system (witness "85"). It wouldn't surprise me if he IS successful but I suspect he will be over valued and go higher than I'm willing to take him.

The system won't be an issue as he has been with mcdaniels for the better parts of 2years now. Nor the age factor, but the spreading as mentioned or mouths to feed could be. He would likely at least best what branch did a year ago............and what is the wrd on branch anyways? Did the Lloyd/Gonzo signing axe his chances?

I'd guess Lloyd doubles the stats of the receiver that he's replacing ...

Chad Johnson.

With 2 or 3 targets a game, I think Lloyd will be an excellent decoy to open up more area for Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez to do what they do.

Sell high!

Under normal circumstances he would easily be top 10 but with NE spreading the ball around and the use of tight ends he'll probably fall 15-20.

From a fantasy perspective, this isn't the best place for Lloyd. Too many mouths to feed.

But it's an incredible signing by New England. The one area that they lack is a true deep threat. Lloyd is an excellent deep threat, and Brady proved that he can deliver when Moss was there.

Ocho Cinco hasn't been a true deep threat for a long time now. If he was, they would have let him run deep and thrown the ball to him.

As good as the Pats were this year offensively, this opens the door for even better production.

I'd rank this as the third best signing of the off-season after Manning and Mario.
