brandon marshall arrested (1 Viewer)

I'm surprised his one phone call wasn't to Bloom:BM: Bloom, I was arrested. Bloom: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!BM: Oh yeah.
I actually find it more funny that Bloom ignored my "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" posts above and reacted seriously to this news item, than if he had laughed at it. It appears our good Mr. Bloom is a tad invested in Mr. Marshall. :excited:
Uh-oh. I just heard on the radio that now they are saying, after further investigation, Marshall had an ounce of a white powdery susbtance under the drivers seat of his vehicle as well as a loaded, unregistered firearm.Things aren't looking good for Brandon.EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!Sorry Bloom.

I had something similar happen to me, I got into an arguement with a girl friend, I decided to just leave and she blocked the entrance to my car door. There was alot of yelling and someone called the police, I didnt press charges, but I imagine something similar happened here, obviously the roles were reversed.
Yeah, I imagine most of us have had an incident like this before. I take it as a good sign that he blocked her from leaving with his car rather than physically forcing her to stay.

Thats what I originally thought

How can you punish a player who isn't found guilty? That just seems a bit....unsettling.
You can because the CBA rules governing player discipline are not based upon the highest burden of proof there is in law, "beyond a reasonable doubt". Just because a player is found "not guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt)" does not mean that he's innocent or not otherwise worthy of punishment. If OJ was still playing at the time of those murders would you be protesting disciplinary action against him?
so you're saying it's more similar to the burden of proof in a civil lawsuit, rather than a criminal case. it still feels a bit unsettling to me, but i get your point.
This happens all the time. Employers are under no obligation to uphold the innocent until proven guilty (and the beyond a reasonable doubt burden of proof that comes with that) concept. Those rules apply to the criminal justice system. It's not unlike the fact that freedom of speech does not necessarily apply fully here on the message boards. As a separate enterprise, FBGs has the right to restrict the way you use their site. For example, NASA just recently fired the wacko astronaut for what she did, even though she has yet to be found guilty of anything. The NFL could do the same too if they wanted to. They have to get it through the union as well, but they don't have to wait for the courts.

No spin here, if there's truth to the charges there's no excuse and he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

NFL players in general need a seminar in how to let things slide, there's too much at stake to fly off the handle, save it for the field.
Don't forget the advanced class after "Letting it Slide 101" - "People are going to Bait Superstar NFL Players 202".
Unfortunately most of them have already taken "She'll drop the charges when she realizes you can't pay the bills in jail - 331"
You expect her to drop criminal charges? How exactly do you plan on her doing that?

I'm not one to normally drop the race card, and I'm not doing it on any specific incident, including this one, but this NFL policy of react regardless of conviction has a lot of potential to be a very racist policy.

I don't think anyone doubts that black players will be pulled over more often and will get in more incidents or interactions with police than white players. The police will always be more likely to target black people driving nice cars around, that's just a fact of life. I have several close friends that are cops, and they will easily admit that in private.

If the NFL starts reacting to bad press on these incidents, there is a real possibility that this policy will have a disparate impact on the black NFL players over the white NFL players. I wonder how much consideration the NFL is giving to that possibility.

Obviously some ho trying to extract cash from Marshall ala the ho that tried to screw over Marshawn Lynch a few month's back. She got what was coming to her...NOTHING. Marshall needs to throw this ho in the dumpster.

So blocking one's path with an automobile is a romantic gesture of devotion to a relationship whilst "wrassling" (to borrow an OJ term) is considered "physically forcing" her? :kicksrock:

didn't Koren Robinson and his agent get all pissy last year when the vikes cut him a couple days after his arrest? They were saying that there was something in the cba saying they couldn't do that and wanted money from his contract he signed, the vikes just said he wasn't going to make the team anyways to get out of it.

Sorry, that was just easier than saying "She won't cooperate with the investigation/court case and since there is usually almost no case without the word of the alleged victim, charges will be dropped".

regardless of what happened -- and none of us know anything about what really transpired yet -- i find it kinda disappointing that people here would joke about domestic violence.

To use another quote: love makes you do crazy things.

While I think this situation is not that serious, it does indicate a pattern for Marshall. He was arrested in college for causing trouble (not sure what it was exactly) at a Denny's and he was involved in the argument that led to the Williams murder.

Im a very lighthearted guy, and I dont mind the funning on me and my Brandon giddiness at the draft last year, but not so much on the domestic violence. I am invested in Marshall doing well, although this could be the confirmation that there was indeed a good reason he fell to the 4th.

This really, really sounds like nothing:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2816452

In a police report, the woman told investigators that Marshall followed her taxi through an apartment complex and then blocked its path with his truck. He jumped out and ran toward the taxi's passenger window, punching it and calling the woman names, according to the report.

Marshall denied hitting the window and told officers he was trying to get his cell phone back, the report said. He said he'd lent it to her because her cell phone was being repaired.

The driver of the taxi reversed the car and managed to get around Marshall's vehicle, the report said.

But you get the idea. If Green Bay had a game coming up against, say (to pick a random team) the Bengals, I'm sure some fans would try to get the other half of the Bengals team arrested.
I fixed your quote for you (emphasis mine).

Then you don't well understand the nature of jokes. Jokes are in a large part designed to cross boundries, break rules, and make light of otherwise taboo topics. I mean, it's a little bit silly to decry jokes making light of domestic violence when that's what the majority of Saturday Morning Cartoons have always been about (you'll find little more violent than a simple episode of Tom and Jerry).People who make jokes about sensitive topics are not necessarily callous, insensitive, uncaring human beings- they're just people like you and I. You might have a lot emotionally invested in domestic violence, to the point where you'd never dream of making a joke about it (and would never find any jokes about it funny), but I can practically guarantee you that you make and laugh at jokes that other people would be shocked or offended to hear.

Like you need a drunken Packer Fan for that.
Naah, the drunken Packer fan would just try to get even by stealing the football from the QB
