I think the wins/losses are pretty spot on and surprisingly the Raiders have a shot at being a wild card team. They benefit from a very easy schedule and their defense is VERY good with the addition of Darious.

Josh McCown showed promise when he was in AZ leading them to a winning record before Denny Green inexplicable benched him.

What are your thoughts and please don't hate the Raiders and make fun of them because a lot of people do who are jealous of their great success from the 1960s to today.

6-2 after the first 8 games? haha... beating KC twice, and at arrowhead? Not likely. I give them 7 wins at best, but most likely around 5.

How many years in a row has Cleveland beaten Oakland? What makes this year different? Sweeping KC? Um... no. 5 wins MAX.

I think you are selling them short. Could win 10+.
and JaMarcus Russell will throw for over 50+ TD's too.....
and Rex Grossman is an nfl quality QB too...
Yeah, and the Bears were not going to win a playoff game last year Captain Wrong.
1. I came in and took my medicine for that.2. They wouldn't have if not for Butterfingers ROmo.3. They wouldn't even make the playoffs in the AFC.But back to the Raiders. I look for them and Cleveland to post 8+ wins and fight for WC spots.

You have Oakland winning @KC? Sorry but, :hey:
Actually of any team in the AFCW, KC is the most likely to lose at home this year to Oakland. A lot has changed on both teams over the last two years and KC only beat them by 4 at Arrowhead last year with that ridiculous excuse for a coaching staff.KC is not as good as many perceive and the Raiders will not be as bad as the 2-14 perception most seem to have of them.

KC is horrid. They do play well at arrowhead, but they are at the level of a CFL team this year so i could easily see Oakland sweeping them.If KC does trade LJ they will flirt with the first 0 win season. I'm almost embarrassed being a fan of the NFL when a team like KC is part of it.

Lots of great replies in here.

I expected a lot of cynics. Oakland will definitely be knocking a lot of people out of survivor pools.

I try not to get overly excited about the Raiders, although I do have a bet with my friend who is a Detroit fan that whoever loses game 1 has to get a tattoo of the other team on their back.

The Raiders' have become much better on the defensive side of the ball (which is an accomplishment since the defense scored more than the offense last year) and the offense can only get better.

I also think the Raiders are motivated to win another title before Al Davis dies so they will be trying harder. I think a dangerous 9-7 wild card team could scare some people and if Russell becomes the starter by the playoffs they could do it.

Really good defense, bottom 5 offense (and that's being generous)

5-11

i like the optimism, but i think 5-11 is more realistic.win against det, hou, cle, & 1 of min, mia, gb, ten & then the miracle of 1 division win.

The Raiders have a 0% chance of beating Green Bay. I doubt they fare very well against Detroit as well.

You can't live in last year to predict this year. Every year is different and they made HUGE strides to improve offense. This is why Monday night football has a hard time finding quality games later in the year because they try and predict who will be good and who won't be. They get it wrong every year.. While I don't expect them to make playoffs I am shooting for 8-8.. I think ANY offense and they can do that..

I'm not living in last year. They've lost Randy Moss, who even given that his skills have slipped and took plays off at least drew major attention from opposing defenses. They've replaced him with no-one.They signed Rhodes who's suspended for four games already, and will really struggle behind the Raiders line when he does play. They've brought in McCown who I honestly don't see being much of an upgrade (if any) from Walter, and will spend just as much time on his back as Walter did last year. They drafted Russell, who does not look anywhere near ready for the NFL to me, and who, again in my opinion, will ultimately be regarded as a bust. They have a coach who's never been a head coach in his life and was part of a staff at USC that managed to seemingly do less with more on offense last year.I'm not seeing improvement on offense, unless the offensive line takes shocking strides forward. I think they could have an outright catastrophe on their hands if they have to start Russell this year.

They've replaced him with no-one. i agree. hopefully curry stays healthy & we at least have 2 valid wr's in him & porterThey signed Rhodes who's suspended for four games already, and will really struggle behind the Raiders line when he does play. yep

They've brought in McCown who I honestly don't see being much of an upgrade (if any) from Walter, and will spend just as much time on his back as Walter did last year. this i disagree with strongly. mccown is way better than walters. walters is a statue of statues & would throw off his back foot all the time. this is an upgrade.

They drafted Russell, who does not look anywhere near ready for the NFL to me, and who, again in my opinion, will ultimately be regarded as a bust. he'll be average i think, he not ready now & i wish we had traded down.

They have a coach who's never been a head coach in his life and was part of a staff at USC that managed to seemingly do less with more on offense last year. we'll see

I'm not seeing improvement on offense, unless the offensive line takes shocking strides forward. I think they could have an outright catastrophe on their hands if they have to start Russell this year. i don't think they could be worse. with the new scheme i see them being a bit better & no more 7 step drops will help also.
with that being said i still see 5-11

Maybe the Raiders sneak out a win over Detriot and/or Miami, but that's about all I see at this point. That o-line was a freaking disaster and while new o-line coach Cable is a good one, he's not God. QB will be dicey regardless - McCown, who hasn't played serious minutes in a while, Walter, who is a stiff, or Russell, a rookie (if Oakland lets him see serious time behind that o-line this season, that might be a criminal offense). The weapons on offense? No more Moss (though I believe that is ultimately better for the overall attitude of the team) might be offset by a rejuvenated Porter, but then what? Curry? Perhaps - though I think the QB situation renders that moot. I like Miller at TE, but he's also a rookie and it will take him a while to learn the ropes. Plus, the Raiders might need the TE to stay in and block a lot more than they want. Running back? No Rhodes for 4 games and Jordan is coming off a knee injury. The defense will have to perform at an outstanding level again to keep them in games, and who knows how much last year took out of them? And I'm not sold on Kiffin - SC fans were elated to see him go and he certainly wasn't Davis' first (or second) choice. 6 wins is the ceiling.

Moss drew attention when he ran full speed, because he thought he might get the ball. When he wasn't hurt, which was most of last season. Listing losing Moss as any kind of negative is crazy. And they replaced him with Porter.I have no idea what the Raiders record will be, but they'll be improved. 4-6 wins, I am hoping for 7.

I went through 17 weeks predicting all W/L for every team (I do this every year - :nerd: ) and tally them up at the end. I had the Raiders at 2-14, and no I'm not a "hater". Tough schedule + bad team.

I say 7-9 but wouldn't be surprised with 6-10 or 8-8.
