Breakout Players that Busted - gimme your most painful (1 Viewer)

Charles Rodgers. After he got hurt his rookie year, everyone including myself was raving about him in preseason. First series for the Lions and he breaks his collar bone again.
Ah yes, I remember really wanting to draft him and being upset having to settle for Andre Johnson.

Just remembered Josh Freeman and Ron dayne.

Then of course there's David carr. I still blame his team and not him.

Oh man where to begin,

Peter Warrick, gave up a ton to get him. Same with Laurence Maroney.

Vernard Morency, thought he was the 'one'.

Chad Hutchinson, um yeah

Donte Stallworth, had him in every league on the planet. Same draft year Marquis Walker & Ashley (can't miss) Lelie

And finally every player to ever lace them up for the Browns. Tim Couch, William Green, Brady Quinn, Trent Richardson, Brandon Weeden, Andre Davis, Quincy Morgan, Lee Suggs, Greg Little, Mohamed Massaquoi, & Johnny Football.

I wish Cory Coleman all the luck in the world

Another name who comes to mind for me is David Terrell.

Not sure how much hype he got in FF circles but he was the #8 overall pick for the Bears after a standout career at Michigan and had a decent rookie year.  He never developed and had maturity issues galore.

I played HS football and basketball against him as he went to one of our rival high schools.  Also used to play pick up basketball with him quite a bit at our local Y.  Very very talented but always a little bit of a knucklehead.  Likely cost himself millions of dollars.

David Carr's exit wasn't the fault of the team... it was solely the fault of Chris Palmer. Chris Palmer, and his lack of OL-sense, was not just the cause of #1 QB pick David Carr's demise -- he was also the cause for #1 QB pick Tim Couch's demise.

Palmer is currently the offensive assistant for the Bills, and I think about how lucky he is that (1) he even has a job, and (2) the Bills team had a decent OL when he landed there so that T-mobile has even a chance for a healthy future.

Spiller three years ago in Buffalo. I remember a quote from their OC that said they were going to get him something like 30 touches a game. I was ALL IN on him. God that turned out awful.
Yep.  Something like "we're gonna run him til he pukes" iirc.  Killed me that year.

This dude killed me. Honestly every Denver RB I've ever drafted killed me. Now I avoid CJ Anderson because of that & he blows up, thus killing me.

Heck with the Broncos RBs! He might be gone but the team is cursed with Shanahanigins. The bronco statue at the airport killed its maker for Pete's sakes - cursed I sez.
Hey! Leave Blucifer out of this, he never did anything...oh wait.

Oh man C.J Spiller two years in a row for me, then Richardson. I had my fair share of Charlie Brown sad walks those years.

Man, this thread brings back memories.

WR

Marcus Robinson- Remember him?  I thought he was the next big thing at WR after his one breakout year in CHI

Ahhhh, I remember this one. Part of my 99 Cecil Collins/Brad Johnson team. His 170 yd/3 TD effort in week 15 came in quite handy. Pretty shocked he fell off the face of the earth the next season. He was as good of a fantasy receiver as I've ever had for that one stretch....including guys like Sterling Sharpe, Marvin Harrison, Dez Bryant, and Josh Gordon. He was amazing and produced every week for the latter half of '99.

In 2002 in a dynasty salary cap league I traded pick 1.4 which was Clinton Portis and a another pick the next year which turned out to be Andre Johnson all for William Green this trade still haunts me

The knife cuts deep on these 3.

:wall:
Lee Evans--Fall of 2006, I had just started dating the woman who would become my wife. I lived in Rochester, she lived in NYC and she had a 1:00 pm flight out on a Sunday. I'm playing a buddy of mine in a home league that started when we were in high school in 1996 that had bonus points for long TDs (still going in 2016). I show up at 1:25 or so and discover Lee Evans did this.

Guy put up 40 points in about half a quarter. Maybe he never panned out, but for one nine minute stretch he might have the highest point total ever.
