Did you guys noticed he pretty much ignored Dan Marino when he was talking.

He had a game to win. I liked it that he went on doing what he'd normally do... Sit down on the bench to check the film and talk with coaches to get ready for the next drive. He's said all week that he wants to win first, and I believe Favre when he says the only record he cares about is the team's win/loss record.

LOL that's is so naive.Favre is top 10 all time, too bad he's a doushebag.

How is Favre a doushebag? I would like to know your position on the matter.

Congratulations Favre on breaking the record. If I'm starting a new franchise and can draft any quarterback in history as a rookie, I would probably take Brett Favre. He almost singlehandedly kept Green Bay competitive over the years while putting up record setting numbers and winning a championship.

those MVPs all came within a short period... the rest I will give him props on tenure...last I checked as well...Favre is up there with 275 interceptions.. two behind Blanda....

I have him in the Top 10... somewhere right after above Warren Moon and Dan Marino.

If anything, the interception record shows how good of a quarterback he has proven that he is. If you play as long as he has, you are going to rack up interceptions, that is a given. So bringing up the number of interceptions he has is really irrelevant. If you want to knock him on anything, knock him on his TD to Int ratio. But that doesnt work either (I looked up QBs that have been mentioned in this thread):

Favre is OK. His longentevity is why he's getting this record, much like Emmitt getting the rushing yards.He's been careless over the years which is why he's also going to get the INT record over the next couple weeks.I like him but I'm not sure he's top 10.

im sorry.. did you ever watch favre??? favre is ok??? carelss?? he was has been and always will be a gunslinger.. he fits balls where no man can... his throws are clocked at 90 MPH(compared to a baseball) how many INT's have come from WR losing ball , going off his hands..etc.. cmon!!!.. the guy was,has and is the best QB to watch ever.. he puts excitement into every game.... whether bad or good.. he isnt afraid of anything... take a long look at what he has had over 15 years as far as options!!!!!!!!.. no legit WRS( maybe sterling for 3 years), no big name RB(ahman for 2)..this guy rates at the top with elway.. yes.. elway.. same situation as favre.. noone to help til the running game came..... NOW COMPARE THAT TO THE LIKES OF MONTANA.. rice,taylor, craig, and a handfull of great OLINE AND GREAT DLINES... put favre on those teams and you would need multiple hands to place rings on... I AM A STEELER LOVER.. love bradshaw to death.. but even he has to sucumb to favre.. if favre had stallworth, blierer,harris,swan and that ungodly defense.. he to there would be still counting rings... and than you use the longentevity thing.. cmon.. how many years til montana play?? marino play?? right there with favre.. come sunday.. there has never been a more talented and more fun guy to watch in the NFL than THEEE.. BRETT FAVRE.. absoluteyly the best player i have ever watched play the game.. for a QB to stand in there and go for the record like he has in number of starts, wins,tds... is amazing... IF YOU ARE A TRUE FOOTBALL FAN, than you know like the other real football fans that no college kids ever wanted to go to GB...so the talent has been very dismal here since the lombardi years...but you really need to get game on.. favre will be sadly missed when he decides to hang it up...

Nobody can claim Favre's resume. There can be only one guy at the top of each mountain. Favre is at the top for completions, TD's and winningest QB. Favre has over 120+ TD's more than Elway and almost 150 more than Montana. As good as those guys were, that is saying a lot. Brady and Manning may get there someday, but the easy part is projecting it, the hard part is actually doing it.

Anyone looking at the composite body of work can not logically omit Favre from a top 3 ranking. He has done too many things anyone else compared to him have not done.

First of all i want to say that i am from Germany, a country where football is regarded like soccer in the USA. I came to watch my first NFL game on television in 1989 when the 49ers beat the Bengals 20:16 in the last seconds of Superbowl 23. Sure i had no idea what football was about but from that moment on i was addicted to it. The first several years i supported the Bengals because i thought Boomer Esiason was a pretty good Quarterback. But one day i happened to watch the Packers and thought how funny all those fans looked with their cheesehats on. That alone got my attention for the Packers but what i noticed most was a young man slinging the ball all over the field and making plays happen that i never had noticed from anyone before. He had so much fun and he was so fun to watch that i officially became a Cheesehead. To keep a long story short, Brett Favre was the reason i really got into football like i am today. I enjoy every game he is playing and will miss him a damn lot when he calls it a career. Thank you Brett Favre for this long ride so far...

The best ? I don't really know... Montana was great but nowhere near as fun to watch as the ol' man with No. 4.

I didn't even know this thread existed until Fla\/\/ed brought it to my attention (i found it on page 4). I wouldn't call myself a Favre-hater by any means, though some of the Favre-slurpers might because I come at it objectively.I think anyone who makes an argument for Favre being the greatest QB in history has a very strong case, one that would be difficult to argue against. Placing him in the top five seems realistic and I would have a hard time imagining him outside of the top ten. There was a period of about five to seven years that I would have been willing to trade just about anybody on my favorite team (or maybe even a package of players) for Favre. Those that bash him for his INTs seem to be disregarding the fact that he is a cowboy on the field that will take any risk for the team, even at the price of his stats. Really the only slight criticism I have of him is that he can be a bit of a drama queen from time to time, but I would gladly have that for the skills that he has brought with him for such a prolonged period of time.

at the "haters" thing. God forbid you say something unflattering about Favre, right? He's beyond reproach? Anyway, he's playing very well right now, no question. MM has gotten him to buy into the system, something that hasn't happened in GB since Holmie left. Favre played his best ball when the coach actually dared to hold him accountable for his mistakes. That may be why some do not automatically annoint Favre as the greatest of all time -- he's needed that sort of short leash more than the other QB's discussed in this thread, IMO.

I went top 10, because I know he's there for sure. Top 3, top 5 could be, but at that point it gets tough to differentiate amongst guys who've played in different eras, had careers of different lengths etc. - plus I'm just too lazy to try and figure it out.

I know he's one of the best ever, and incredibly is still playing great ball at 37. He also seems like a very solid citizen. That's good enough for me.

Packers also had the No. 1-ranked offense that season too. Favre didn't win the MVP that year on a fluke. He was pretty damn good. What's always impressed me the most about Favre is that he's had only one truly great WR in his career and that came at the beginning in Sterling Sharpe. Brooks, Freeman and Driver have all been good WRs and often very good but I don't think any of them were true superstar talent like Sharpe was. Favre has often been asked to succeed without having standout talent around him. And yet despite that he's had only one losing season in his career. That, in my opinion, is one of his most under-rated attributes - the ability to get his teammates to play above their talent level. That's the mark of a truly great player.He's Top 10 all time easily and Top 5 would hardly be out of the question. Once you get past Montana and Unitas it's all subjective anyway.

Marino had the #1 defense in points against twice in his career, as well as the benefit of SB winning coaches like Shula and Johnson and he couldn't win jack #### in Miami.

1. Montana

Big muddled up group IMO (Unitas, Elway, Marino, Favre, Brady, Manning)...and so on. Though, Brady may have already passed him and he and Manning probably will separate themselves from that pack and take over the #2 and #3 spots if they don't pass Montana outright.

What Joe did being nearly flawless in the postseason makes him #1 IMO.
