Brian Bannister, SP Royals (1 Viewer)

12 team league. Start 5 SP + 4 RP + 2 P. Decent number last year (12-9 3.87 1.21 .249 BAA) and off to a good start this year.

Thoughts?

I think Bannister is a great story and wish him continued success.

He was helped last year by an extremely low BABIP of .266. If that returns to somewhere near normal, his WHIP and ERA will increase accordingly. His K/9 rate is also much lower than you'd like from a fantasy SP.

I remember LMAO when the mets traded Bannister for Burgos. Thought that was a horrible deal for the Mets.

Minaya has had his share of good & bad trades so far . . .The Bad:Bannister for BurgosHeath BellThe Good:Duaner Sanchez for Jae SeoJohn Maine for Kris BensonXavier Nady for Mike Cameron, who helped get Oliver Perez

I think he compares pretty favorably to someone like Chien-Ming Wang, except he doesn't have a great offense to help him in the wins category...will hurt you in K's because it's about 1 every 2 innings, but the rest of his stats are pretty good.

2007 Stats:

Chien-Ming Wang: 199 IP, 104 K, 19 W, 3.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP

Brian Bannister: 165 IP, 77 K, 12 W, 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP

dammit, i drafted my wang alot higher than bannister went....

Thanks for all the input. Would you drop Mussina for him?
I wouldn't roster Moose in any format, I'd roster a minor leaguer not expected to be up until Septamber before him. Bannister's a spot start, but definitely roster him over Moose.

His fastball was peaking last night at 84, he's done, he's just keeping the seat warm for Joba.

Me too. Many Yankee fans blast him cuz they just remember last year but Ive always contended he was the best Free Agent signing of Cashman's tenure. Ill always be a Mussina fan but hes done.
