Brian Brohm (1 Viewer)

Nice pickup by the Pack. ;)

Sucks to be Aaron Rodgers. He's living in the shadow of Favre and now he's got BB breathing down his neck. It's not like Rodgers is under any pressure to perform...

He was under pressure no matter what the Packers did to address the backup situation. Brohm is going to take some time to learn the playbook.

the bears should of drafted him with their last selection
Bears are taking one last shot at orton and grossman. They need a RBC guy and offensive line. Da Bears are going to try again for the Superbowl one last try before totally rebuilding. Bears should be getting another Offensive line guy and Def. Line guy as well tomorrow.

I never believed he's be any good and apparently the Packers have also figured that out.

Last year Brohm was projected as a top 10 pick and now this year he is picked in the 2nd round after a very good senior season. Unbelievable. Nice job Packers.

They have?Seems like they figured out they need a backup QB and why not take a guy who very well would have been the #1 QB had he come out a year early and ended up falling to them at #56 in this draft.

There is a reason this franchise's career passing yardage leader played during World War II, in an era when players played both ways and the season was 11 games. The fact that they could possibly look at Orton and Grossman and think, "thank you, may I have another!" is beyond comprehension.

Aaron Rodgers must have run over Favre's dog a couple years ago or something.

Plenty of ways to get a backup QB without using a high pick. As you say he could have been the #1 QB last year and teams don't draft a guy like that to be a backup. It will be full-on competition for the starting QB.

The starting job is Arod's no question. Nothing wrong with bringing in BB to challenge him a bit. Also nothing wrong with getting deeper at the most important position on the team. BB was indeed a steal the Packers had to make when he fell that far. Nice work once again Mr Thompson.

Quick fact...

Rodgers was drafted before McCarthy was in town. The new alpha lion will always kill the baby lions of the former alpha lion.

I don't think that's it at all.
If there was a veteran QB that made sense to sign, that would be preferred (CPep?) but they needed a backup and Brohm was easily BPA. Not indicative of a controversy, but Rodgers' leash is shorter now.

Its a 2nd round pick. At a time where the team does not have any huge glaring holes.I don't think it will be a competition for it this year...next year maybe.

I'm conflicted about the Brohm pick. I think it's a great get for the Packers - a top talent at QB, at a position where they desperately need depth. At the same time, Rodgers already has plenty of pressure on him, so I'm hoping he can put on the blinders and do his thing without looking over his shoulder. Also, hopefully this means the Packers are no longer considering Daunte :goodposting: . As cranky as I envisioned Culpepper to be as a backup, can you imagine how he'd be holding the clipboard as a 3rd stringer?

If Rodgers can't handle the pressure of having Brian Brohm waiting in the wings, then he sure as heck can't handle the pressure of leading GB to a Super Bowl. In which case, this is exactly the right pick. Another superb draft by TT!

I think a very nice insurance policy for the Pack, in case Rodgers doesn't work out...
I almost view it as it brings some competition to camp and gives each other something to work towards. Before the draft even started you had Rogers walking into that starting job with no one to push him. Now he will have to bring it if he wants that job now. Nice job Pack
