Brian Griese and the Bears (1 Viewer)

Paper Lions

Footballguy
Brian Griese has some sort of strange mojo on the field. He's not super talented, but he has a winning record as a starter. He doesn't have all the talent but he's not dumb. I'm thinking that his moxy sparks the bears offense this week. Add in the banged up Bears defense and the gun slinging Martz, and I think we could see somewhat of a shootout at Ford Field today. 34-31 Bears.

Longer term, the Bears could be dangerous with Griese behind center this year. I'm thinking Trent Dilfer and the Ravens defense from whatever year that was.

I agree.

Something about him... I also believe the Bears skill players will be getting an UP tick in all rankings next week. Lions at home will give it there best and could possibly pull out the victory. For the rest of the season though I think the Bears will be getting their roll on and it's all because of Griese.

As ridiculous as this sounds, I considered starting Griese over P. Manning this week. I don't like Manning's matchup vs Broncos and he's only had 1 td each of the last 2 games. I think Griese is good for 280 and 2 tds today.

I predict abysmal failure and Grossman starts the second half.

4 of 13 for 26 yards, 2 INT's and one fumble lost before Griese hits the pine.

I'm starting Griese but i'm second guessing myself now
High risk - high reward or flop. The Bears have some very good receivers but Rex seems to only use Berrian. If Greise uses all his weapons he could do really well. Although Lovie could limit him by running the ball unless they get behind.

I can't see it against the Lions D. From Wimer's passing matchup feature this week:"The Lions are 31st in the NFL allowing an average of 278.7 passing yards per game to date, with 6 TDs handed over to opposing QBs so far. They have piled up 6 interceptions and 8 sacks to date, though - this is a gambling, agressive unit that hasn't managed to shut down opposing receivers so far."

Hope you didn't go ahead with this one... Lions are shutting Griese out so far and he doesn't look so good.

Griese has always been an mediocre to average QB with below average arm strength and chokes constantly. Nothing about his play today has been surprising.

Sure looked good in that final drive today.
Having been forced to start Griese for most of the year, I have noticed that he usually has "one good drive" every game. And it always seems like that one drive creates a very fine line between "good game" and "bad game" for him.If Griese throws a pick at the beginning of that drive, it's a terrible game for him.

Thanks to Griese I am no longer cursing my drafting of Grossman in my 2 QB league. Im sure there are many with me on that.

Absolutely. But it's that one drive that sets him apart. He has no business being any good at all but he seems to get it done anyway.
