Broncos Sign Stokley (1 Viewer)

as soon as i read the title I thought that rod must not be progressing well or its insurance if he doesnt
Or Shanahan wanted another receiver to rehab with Rod Smith. Stokley is a good player but he's always hurt.

This hurts Sheffler more then anything as Stokley will get the 8 yard dumps instead on 3rd down.

I'd like to see Stokley actually play a whole game or two in a row before I can say he's going to take away anything from anyone. This guy lives in the training room...yeah, right behind table two and the ice tub.

Neither Scheffler nor Stokley are the 8-yard dumpoff type of players. If anything, Graham is likely going to be the primary target in those situations.I wish I knew the contract values. Personally, I don't think it's very likely Stokley will account for more than 20 grabs next year. Denver historically doesn't make much use of its #3 WR, and with a brand new toy in Daniel Graham, you can bet that Denver will spend a lot of time in 2-TE sets.

I'm guessing that either Rod isn't recovering well from the surgery and possibly contemplating retirement, or they are not truly sold on Marshall being the #2 WR.
This signing says more about Rod Smith than it does Brandon Marshall.
Brandon Marshall Fan Club Presidential Take:If they were doubting Marshall, they would have brought in someone that could be insurance for Smith AND compete with Marshall to start. Instead, they brought in a classic slot/3rd WRs. In other words, EEEEEEEEEEE

Good sign in my opinion. He did kinda fall off the map last year, granted he was injured for a while. But think back to 2 seasons ago. Marvin, Reggie, and Stokley were the targets everygame. Stockly def got his #'s in, but hey, thats with Manning throwning the ball

Can Stokley return kicks?

ETA: Schefter postulated on NFLN tonight that Stokely will be helpful as a "spy", in that he knows how the Colts O works and the Broncos will be able to pick his brain, to help them get over the Indy hump.
