Brunell to Seahawks - not happening (1 Viewer)

Ch. 9 in the DC area is reporting that Brunell will be trade to Seattle for a future pick. I had heard talk that Seattle wanted to move Wallace to WR, but did not trust Greene as the back up. No link yet.

Thanks to PantherPower for the heads up.

They want to move him anywhere on the field. He's considered by most to be the best athlete on the team and have wanted to work him into the offense for years. They just signed him to an extension so maybe we'll see some razzle dazzle this season once Brunell gets up to speed. And I would assume this means Greene will be cut.

Talking to our own Jeff Pasquino just now. He says he can confirm that he saw the report on Ch. 9 and that Wallace will be moved to TE!!

Isn't Wallace too small to play TE?
That's what Ch 9 said. The Seahawks were trying Seneca out at WR and PR/KR and hoped their other backup (Greene) stepped up to be the #2, but it didn't happen. Now Brunell could become the 2 and Seneca would work as a receiver in some capacity.(Insert Yahoo roster joke here).

They'll probably work him in an H back type of role where he could take a hand offor pitch or go out in a pattern, with of course his QB ability to watch out for. Could this be the year that Homgren actually runs trick plays?

As a Seahawks fan, I am ecstatic to see Wallace get more involved. Holmgren thinks Wallace could be a Pro Bowl WR if he were allowed to focus on it. Another reason to drop Hackett a notch or two.

[x] Convince Holmgren to move Wallace to TE

[ ] Have him play one game, wait for fantasy sites to update eligibility

[ ] Run over Hasselback with car, have Wallace take over at QB

[ ] Get 300 yards passing and 2 TDs from TE spot every week

[ ] Tell last year's Colston owner to bite me

First Brunell has to get up to speed with the offense and become the backup QB. Then Wallace has to be worked into the offense. It's not an instantaneous transition so I wouldn't bump any Hawk just yet. He could steal carries from SA, TD passes from Hass and receptions from Branch, Burleson, Hackett and Pollard so if you're going to downgrade one you better downgrade all.

The Falcons should have done the same thing with Vick years ago.

On further reflection, it probably would bump Hass up a tad as he'd have another target out there that would create some good mismatches. But I doubt it would impact things until weeks into the season. They have a bye week 8 so maybe that'd be a good time to start working in Wallace, throw off the second half opponents a bit too.

Brunell was a back-up in GB when Holmgren was there. And he's a grizzled vet. I suspect that he can get up to speed pretty quickly. I think the Jax offense was similar to Holmgren's - but I could be wrong about that.

I think, if this is true, people really need to start coming back to Earth on D.J. Hackett's outlook this year. Claire Farnsworth is already on record saying that Hackett and Burleson could be in a "job share" and if they really move Wallace to WR, to what end are any of the SEA wideouts compelling fantasy prospects?

Also, why did the Hawks just sign Wallace to a 3-year extension if they're not going to use him as a backup QB OR a major player in the offense in some other capacity?

They've been working on this scenario for a while now, perhaps they had some inkling that by the end of preseason they would be in this situation. There's actually a good article on ESPN.com right now by Mike Sando where Hass talks about watching film and how he taught Ken Lucas to recognize patterns back when he was a Seahawk. Then when they were lined up against each other in the NFC championship game Matt had devised a way to burn Lucas on that knowledge with the play where Wallace caught a beautiful pass. If Burleson has indeed brought up his game and Wallace gets out there too it could be a formidable air attack but fantasy frustration.

I wish the Skins would trade him, just get something. Why keep a 37 year-old Brunell as 3rd string?

Ick. Brunell is done.

I'd like to see Wallace more involved, but not like this. Although, I guess is Hasselbeck goes down, Wallace would go to QB.

Hopefully it is no higher than a 6th round pick. It would be a good pickup for Seattle for reasons mentioned above, like getting Seneca more involved in the offense.

This was supposed to be the make or break game for David Green as the 3rd QB. There's been a lot of talk by Holmgren and others that Green is not as far along as he should be and has performed poorly this preseason.

It's the 4th quarter and Wallace is still in.
