Normally I would agree -- but in this case Gumble has really set the bar high for bad announcing. It's as if he's not sure what sport he is watching. (i.e. "3 minute warning," "Al Gore," "Shot clock"). This is way beyond anything Theisman, Maguire, Dennis Miller, Kornheiser, and fill-in-the-blank announcer have ever said. These weekly "Bryant Gumble Sucks" threads are pointless. He is calling the games on the network at least through the end of this 2006 schedule, so either live with it or give your MUTE button a try.![]()

Maybe Gumbel will pick up Vermeil's ailment!this broadcast is absolutely unlistenable.**** Vermeil has no voice.
do you think they brought in faulk to help out the effort tonight? bryant gumbel is a good news person, but you've got to wonder why they chose him to do the play-by-play without any experience (at least that i'm aware of). if you could knock the pitch of his voice down an octave, i think i might be able to stand him despite the broadcast blunders..........why didn't they have rich eisen do the play-by-play? i think he would have been pretty decent. even adam scheffler might have been fun to listen to in-game....Guru said:Maybe Gumbel will pick up Vermeil's ailment!Aaron Rudnicki said:this broadcast is absolutely unlistenable.**** Vermeil has no voice.

Are you serious? You obviously have never heard this broadcast. They are horrendous beyond anything I have ever heard. Some of us pay for the NFL network because we want to see these games. Watching the games on mute is not a great option when you are paying for the games.most people have a mute button..............use it, if you don't like gumble. give it a rest.OneEastRiver said:Normally I would agree -- but in this case Gumble has really set the bar high for bad announcing. Thank You! He has to be one of the worst announcers I've seen ever! Does he know anything about the game at all? Does he do any pre-game prep work at all? I mean, seriously... he's making Kornheiser look like the 2nd coming of Cosell (sp?).Bryant Gumbel must talk the best game when he's in a job interview. There's no way in hell he should have this gig. I mean, this is the NFL Channels crown jewel, and he's just terrible.
