Bryce Brown anything to see here? (1 Viewer)

As much as this line of thinking makes complete sense to you, this is unlikely to happen. Roseman isn't going to come in and start making gameday personnel decisions just because Reid is likely to get fired.
I don't think Roseman is going to make gameday decisions. I do think that when it comes to evaluating the injuries, the organization will take a more cautious approach to declaring them "healthy" now that they are only playing out the string. There is a lot of young talent on both sides of the ball that needs to be evaluated. There's already speculation Foles will start again next week in Dallas as Vick hasn't been cleared yet. That's from Eagles' beat writer Jeff McLane after Reid's presser today. Apparently Reid said he still needs to see Vick "healthy" before putting him back on the field. McLane went on to tweet "we'll probably see Foles in Dallas". McCoy appears to be a week behind him.

What are people's expectations for brown against the cowboys? I watched him blow up against the panthers but other running backs have done the same this year. The cowboys defense is ranked high this week, but that's most likely due to foles. Any guesses what he'll do week 2?

I was at the game Monday night. Carolina run D is atrocious bad. My birds ran the the "over the QB head fake snap" play 4 times and it worked for a lot of yardage 3 of the 4 times against a pro team. Car gap control and edge play was beyond bad. Also, Foles did not even complete a pass longer than 15 yds so I cannot see Dallas even trying to defend the deep ball-especially with Jackson out.

That being said Brown ran with good body lean, and pad level. And was MUCH faster in person than I thought. Finding a "volume" runner on the WW in week 12 is a pretty good deal but I don't expect him to crack 100 the rest of the way. Hope he does but the Eagles are hot mess.

Tempered, but still optimistic. Dallas isn't great against the run, but they are pretty good. Foles looks lost out there (think he audibled to a run about 10 times last week and nearly got Celek killed in the middle of the field a few times). He won't inspire any fear in the Dallas secondary so Brown will have to find tough holes, hit them hard and work for yardage. Luckily these are things that he seems adept at doing. I wouldn't expect another 60 yard breakaway (although with his speed I wouldn't be shocked) but I could see him getting 3-4 receptions and I bet he scores..the big question is how much they'll feed him. He's really their only weapon at this point and as bad as the birds are, I don't see Dallas running away with this game early, so I think he'll see 20+ carries this weekend.3 catches, 100 total yards & 1 TD

The BOys run-D currently ranks 14th in the league but lets take a closer look at how they have been doing lately.- first six games of the season they only allowed one opponent to rush for more than 100 yards

- last five games of the season they have allowed four-100 yard rushing games

It is obvious that they are slipping on run defense. They lost two stud inside linebackers in LB Sean Lee and LB Bruce Carter.

Per RB Bryce Brown.

Loved the way he started the game but they caught the Panthers by suprise with that direct snap as Brown was moving in front of Foles who was set-up in the shotgun. I think they ran that four times and three of those runs were long runs. That 65 yarder was a combination of finding a clear edge and pure speed.

I would imagine the Boys will have an answer for the direct snap trick-play and will be cemented to their edge contain responsibilities this week and they will be going after the ball after watching Bryce put it on the ground a couple of times. I would also imagine the 'Iggles' will have some sort of chess move to counter what they feel Rob Ryan and the Boys will do and considering how aggessive Rob can be, especially going after a rookie QB and a RB who might have a propencity to fumble, it could create some huge holes and when defenders are going for the strip instead of the take-down many times it leads to REALLY LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG runs so it should be fun to see what happens.

Here's what I'd like to know...Does anyone else think that McCoy might be done for the season? The Eagles are tanking. Sounds like Vick isn't coming back anytime soon either.https://twitter.com/howardeskinBrown could be fantasy-playoff gold.
No need for either to come back anytime soon. They are playing out the string. Play the rookies.

Better hope for a good 1st half from Brown, this could get ugly in the 2nd half. However, he's a 3 down back who runs short yardage and goal line and had 5 targets. Not much else you could ask for from a flex.

There will be lots of disappointment come Monday morning when Brown doesn't live up to his high expectations.
That depends on your expectations. If you think he's going to blow the doors off of Dallas and go for 175/2 TDs then I agree that you'll be disappointed. I was very high on him last week, projected 125/1 TD and was pleasantly surprised. While that projection was based mostly on my belief that the kid is a baller, at least part of that projection was also based on Carolina's crappy defense. That said Dallas' defense is better than Carolina, but certainly not lights-out. Their two starting MLBs are out and while people keep pointing out that they won't be afraid of Foles and will sell out to stop the run...does anyone really believe that Carolina didn't feel that way? Brown is big, quick, VERY fast, decisive and is a 3-down back. His talent showed last week and will again-unless you think that Dion Lewis will steal a large chunk of his carries :lmao: I think a reasonable stat line would be something along the lines of 75 rush yards/4 rec's for 30/1 TD.

Bryce Brown is the real deal, alright. Temporarily forgiving the seventh-round rookie for two lost fumbles due to careless if correctable ball-carrying technique, Brown's cutting ability, turbo jets down the sideline, and physical inside running jumped off the tape in Philly's Week 12 loss to Carolina. "His skill set is very similar to someone like Ben Tate," NFL Films' Greg Cosell observed of Brown this week. "He's a very decisive, downhill runner with natural power and short-area burst." Brown played ahead of Dion Lewis in passing situations against the Panthers, operating as an every-down back and hogging 23 of the Eagles' 29 backfield touches. Now facing a sagging Cowboys run defense that has lost both starting inside linebackers to injured reserve, Brown is a locked-in top-15 running back play on Sunday Night Football. ... LeSean McCoy remains in Phase 1 of his concussion testing and isn't going to play anytime soon. Brown is capable of being a stretch-run fantasy hero.

i followed this thread and stashed Brown weeks ago. I'm out of the playoffs but due injury was forced to start Brown vs the McCoy owner. I was down 25+/-points going into MNF.

Silver Lining i beat that dude by 20pts. Some of the smallest victories are the sweetest.

All because i trusted community advice of shark pool and asst coach and people familiar with player and team.

You were right. Petered out at 169/2. :excited: Plus the 4 rec, which went for only 14 yds. This kid is so good I honestly do not think the fumbles will hurt his stock at all. The question is where will he be a feature back next season? He has single-handedly turned around the entire miserable wretched Eagles offense. Maybe the Eagles deal McCoy and hold onto that very affordable Brown contract for '13. I know this: Bryce Brown has to play.

He holds the ball terrible. But he is super talented. He may be better then McCoy. he looks so natural. You got to hope McCoy stays out another week. Otherwise its the same sitauation as Reece and McFadden. Backup performing better then the starter.

Reid's quote on Brown's fumbling issue:

“He’s a heck of a young player. I’m not making excuses for anybody. He hasn’t played a lot of football here. We’re asking him to get in there and work and get back into this. Get used to being the guy and toting it. There’s a way you’ve got to go about that. He’s got to learn, but he will. He’s a smart guy and his effort is there.”

I saw that McCoy is improving, and is moving through the stages of recovery.

I have both and am really hoping they shut down McCoy for the year.

What is more likely is that they hold onto both, since trades (especially for RBs) are very rare in the NFL. McCoy will likely be the main RB, again, but at worse, it will be a RBBC. There is virtually 0% chance that Brown is the main RB in Philly next year, and I'd say a less than 5% chance that he is traded anywhere & becomes the main RB.

They mentioned on one of the shows that McCoy was almost ready and that the Eagles expected him back next week (Thats to be seen) . heres a quote from the other Brown thread , they will not shut him down. Still 4 games to go . I could see if there was 1 game to go. Same thing with McFadden. All the Reece folks say shut him down but hes back this week I just read. A mess for Fantasy but a nice thing for the Eagles to have . 2 Great RB's.

As expected, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was officially ruled inactive for Sunday night's contest against the Cowboys in Week 13 as he continues to recover from a concussion he sustained in Week 11. McCoy was unable to practice throughout the past week as he reportedly remains in Stage 1 of his recovery program. Team trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters earlier in the week that McCoy's concussion symptoms are "down to almost nothing."

True but there are still 3, 4 and 5 stages McCoy will need to go through and then practice.

Nobody knows what the Eagles will do in the off-season. Their team is a complete mess and they are almost certainly going to make significant leadership changes. They cannot fix their personnel issues entirely through the draft. They have two star-quality RB's so moving one of them to address problems in other areas is most definitely an option. To say there is 0% chance Brown is the main back in Philly next year is simply a joke. This was a bad concussion for McCoy so if he gets popped in the head within the next year he could be shut down for a long time. Brown has multiple avenues to the main job. Based on how he is running, which is way better than McCoy was prior to his concussion, they will find a way to get this guy touches.

Where did you read about McCoy improving?
It was in the FBG daily email on Saturday......here is a cut and paste;PHI - RB LeSean McCoy improvingSource: KFFL.comPhiladelphia Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder said RB LeSean McCoy (concussion) is improving and has reached Stage 2 of his recovery from a concussion. 'He's doing pretty well. His symptoms are down to almost nothing. His major complaint is fatigue, but he's going through the program. He's done very well on the ImPACT test. The only reason we won't say that he passed the ImPACT test is because he has symptoms, but all the other stuff checked out. So, he's doing fine and he's in Stage 2, so the next phase we go to (is) three, four, five and see how he does.'[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]This is progress, which is good news for McCoy, but bad for Bryce Brown owners. McCoy could return next week, but week 15 is more likely.

Javid Best passed them test too and look where he's at. They are not going to rush McCoy back until they know he's completely over it, especially since its already a lost season.

McCoy needs to be shut down for the season. There is no sense to bring him back.

Bryce Brown is the sole reason I'll be on bye next week, good man. The ball security issues are real though, not to say McCoy doesn't have some ball security issues himself. As a Brown owner in one league, and a McCoy owner in another, I'm dreading a timeshare akin to what we saw happen in IND with Ballard and the other Brown this year. The upside here is that both PHI Brown and McCoy are infinitely more talented.

Eagles are playing for next year. No need to bring back McCoy or Vick to take a beating in 5 meaningless games. The players have quit as well. Just look at that pathetic defense. And they are the starters, not injury fill-ins.

:hifive:

Early information indicates RB LeShon McCoy won't be back and that rookie RB Bryce Brown will get another start this upcoming Sunday.

Also their is already speculation about Brown possibly getting dealt away and/or how the Eagles might split the backfield next year with LeShon and Bryce.

My link

... As for Brown, he will probably get another game to erase the fumble. McCoy is still in the early stages of his return from a concussion. He must have been sitting at home the last two weeks wondering what got into Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

The Eagles led, 24-17, midway through the third quarter because of a balanced attack. Mornhinweg called 20 runs to 21 passes when Foles hit Riley Cooper for a 15-yard touchdown reception.

Brown had 14 carries for 107 yards in the first half. McCoy ran 14 times before the break only once this season - against the Ravens. He averaged 8.5 carries in the first half of the first 10 games. Brown has averaged 11.5 in his two starts.

The Eagles will look different in many ways next season. With McCoy, Brown and no Reid, is it possible they will pound the ground.

That is, assuming, Brown isn't dealt away.

There is absolutely no reason the Eagles would even consider making a trade. Brown has special qualities and he is dirt cheap. Additionally, whoever is under center will probably need to lean heavily on the run game, so having two backs to turn to that offer different skill sets will be necessary. It will be interesting to see how the public perceives both of them come next draft season because while Brown looks like a more special talent McCoy is the established one and doesn't come with mental midget risk, curious whether that will be priced in for both of them./

Reuben Frank ‏@RoobCSN

Shady in stage 3 of concussion recovery, Vick still in stage 4, Andy Reid said.

Reid said Foles will start at QB for remainder of the season.

"It gives one of our younger players a chance to start the last four games. He is the starter, and we'll see how he does."
I'm beginning to wonder if they'll follow suit with McCoy. :wall:
LeSean McCoy (concussion) is now in Phase 3 of his recovery.

It's a sign of progress from McCoy, who was still in Phase 1 as of Thursday. Still, Michael Vick has been in Phase 4 of his recovery for roughly two weeks now, so Shady isn't necessarily close. And with the Eagles in full-blown evaluation mode over the final four games, breakout rookie Bryce Brown isn't going away. If McCoy does play again this year, he figures to share the load with Brown.

As a former Austin Collie owner I just don't see McCoy being trusted again this year. while he might come back, I'm not dropping Bryce cause I just think McCoy will get knocked out again in short order.

It's interesting how you refute my post with your first sentence:

because it doesn't fit your stance that Brown HAS to become an important part of the Eagles offense next year; then you make this statement:

Based on how he is running, which is way better than McCoy was prior to his concussion, they WILL find a way to get this guy touches.
So, when I contend that the Eagles won't trade McCoy (b/c there are few NFL trades, and even fewer for RBs), you argue that no one knows what the Eagles will do, but then you make the argument that they WILL find a way to get this guy touches? Seems like you really want Brown to become a FF force, and are ignoring the fact that it is unlikely. 1-He has a stud RB in front of him.

2-RB trades are rare in the NFL.

3-The stud RB in front of him isn't coming back from a knee/leg injury, so he should be fine for next year.

4-The stud RB is young, and recently signed a new contract that guarantees him almost $12M through 2015, so he isn't going to be cut.

All of these things point to McCoy being the main back, and AT BEST (for Brown) a RBBC with Brown as the lesser partner.

as someone who has both mccoy and brown on both of his fantasy teams... I'd be fine with them giving shady the year off... but I see him coming back week 15 in a near 60-40 timeshare... There isn't really a reason to bench mccoy if he is cleared to play...nor is there a reason to go back to what had been a 90-10 split before the mccoy concussion since the eagles arent going anywhere.

What I don't get is how he lasted til the 7th round?... he was a top High School prospect... sure he had big time character issues in college... but his talent is obvious to anyone who has watched the last 2 games.

edit: looks like he wasnt invited to the combine, so props to the eagles staff for finding him.

Was Foster not even drafted? Guys just seem to slip though the cracks.

Well there is a reason the would consider trading Brown and that's if they were properly compensated. It's not like they don't have needs. Fact is you don't see a lot of RB trades makes it seem less likely but it's also a weak year for the RB draft class. This does make next year extremely interesting. Are these two going to be like a Foster(McCoy)/Tate(Brown) with a sure #1 and high end #2 taking maybe getting 30% of the touches? I'm more inclined to think they end up as more of a true RBBC and used in more of a similar fashion to the Fred/Spiller combo.Only thing I feel certain about right now is McCoy's dynasty value has plummeted a great deal. I mean it's still high but before this I had McCoy rated as my #2 dynasty back behind Richardson.

This guy is Rashad Jennings 2.0, maybe worse with Foles at QB.
Yeah I wouldn't expect a ton here. If you have an extra kicker to drop in a dynasty or something maybe. But I wouldn't drop anything of value for him.
whoops.
every week I would tinker with my roster to make sure I had brown as a handcuff to Shady, you could tell even with his limited work pre mccoy conussion that there was something there and that brown could be startable should mccoy go down.

I share the same thoughts. I do wonder how this affects McCoy next year. Maybe this is a Foster-Tate situation where the starter is still the starter and the clearly talented back-up is still no more than a backup. Who knows. What Brown has done is absolutely incredible though. When I had the #1 ww and at 5-6 traded for McCoy and wiavered Brown I figured I'd be planning for next year with a Foster-McCoy combo as my 2 keepers...but damn I wonder how many people are seriously reconsidering McCoy as a keeper prospect (pending how many keepers you have). Personally I see McCoy as a top 5 back in the NFL and he comes with a $46 million dollar deal and track record of only 1 fumble every 113 touches. There will be a lot of turnover in the offseasone and it will be interesting to follow this situation, that is if any clues or hints are dropped. As a McCoy/Brown owner it'd be ideal to see him held out till week 17, have Brown play every game in the fantasy playoffs, then have McCoy come back fully healthy and see how the split works out. This is obviously a situation to keep track of.

You left yourself no wiggle room with your absurd contention that there is a 0% chance that Brown becomes the feature back in Philly. This "stud" that you are talking about is having a long, multi-week recovery from a very serious concussion. "He should be fine for next year" is also an ignorant statement. I'd rather have a player break a leg than have a serious concussion in today's environment of hyper-sensitivity about head injuries. You stick with your 0%. I'll stick with the notion that you have no clue. If you watched Brown's play the last two weeks and still think it is unlikely that he becomes a FF force, that speaks volumes. It has nothing to do with me wanting him to be anything. He has left no doubt that he has talent similar to that of the top few RB's in the NFL. It seems quite likely that a team in shambles will find a way to give him an opportunity moving forward.

i see a McCoy for Revis trade on the horizon, a la Bailey for Portis from years ago. Yes, even though revis is coming off acl surgery.

Trade makes sense for both teams.

I could list out all the RB needy teams but I'll save myself the trouble and just say that's an impossible set of questions to answer right now. Any attempt would just be 100% guess work.I just don't think you can emphatically state there is not reason they would not consider trading him. He's a commodity on a team in need so I while I think we agree he probably won't be moved I just don't think it can be ruled out.You could make a pro/con list with regards to Brown getting moved and I could argue any side of this list all day.Pros for getting moved-1. Cheap contract makes salary implication for moving him not even a thought plus his salary would be an appealing item even for a team not up against the cap.2. McCoy is the starter and if they can trade a backup or partime player for more pressing need or as part of rebuilding project it would need to be considered.3. Draft class this year is projected as being weak at RB. FA class not looking overwhelming either.4. He fits every system. If a team is looking for a power runner, one cut runner, back with blocking and receiving skills to play all 3 downs I'd contend Brown fits every scheme.Cons for getting moved:1. Cheap contract is also very appealing to Eagles.2. Teams don't often pay huge compensation for RB's. It happens, but not often.3. Browns checkered collegiate career, fumbling issues and perception he could be a "flash in the pan" are all working against the Eagles being able to get enough compensation to move him and they don' move him without being highly comped.Than of course you have the possibility of moving McCoy, especially if the new HC wants more of a power running attack. This possibility seems more remote this off season than trading Brown but could be interesting in the 2014 off-season if Brown's strong play continues. At that point Brown is probably going to want to be paid more and McCoy's base salary jumps over $7million.
