The Bucs released David Boston today:

Guess that means Maurice Stovall moves up to No. 3 WR behind Galloway and Clayton. If either of them goes down w/ an injury, Stovall could be a sneaky good pickup. He had a nice preseason, and has the height to be a good red-zone target.

Would he? Why? If he was worthwhile, he would have risen above career underachievers in Hilliard and Boston.

I could be wrong, but it sure looks to me like he has risen above Boston in Tampa.

That's why I winked. Stovall clearly rose above Boston. He is currently listed as Galloway's #1 backup, Hilliard is Clayton's. We'll see this weekend if Stovall has risen above Hilliard. Gruden likes them both in the slot, Stovall better in the redzone (reading between the lines of a few quotes). Stovall is a tough WR, a heavy blocker, I think he's WR3 already. If not, soon.

They probably released him before Wk 1 so they won't have to guarantee his salary and then re-sign him next week. Same with Pinkston/Minn
