Fonoti wasn't brought in to start. The goal is to have him back up Dan Buenning, and they signed him because they had no one who could play LG the way Muir needed if Buenning went down.

Everybody is brought in to compete for a starting spot. Fonotui has been injured his last 2 years, and the year before that he was pro-bowl calibre. Say for instance Fonotui came into training camp at 365 and played like he did in 03'. Do you really think JG will keep his loyalty to his second year player Buenig? He may also try him out at other positions on the line. Most importantly I think Gruden learned from last camp when we had so many injuries on the line it was getting hard to practice.
