Old timers will remember that football "experts" predicted that Kelly would never be successful as a quarterback. Joe Paterno wanted to make him a linebacker. Kelly's well-built 6' 3" toughness was the mold to be an ideal NFL linebacker. So, most people thought. Thru sheer will, perseverence and hard work Kelly made himself an HOF qb. Physically Tebow is match for Kelly; probably a bit faster too. Could Tebow follow in Kelly's path to become the next great Buffalo qb? We don't know what Buffalo will do in the draft, but it's fun to speculate.

Some cold hard opinions on Tim Tebow from former pro scout and football expert, Daniel Jeremiah AKA @movethesicks on twitter. link to blog page

I have spent the week studying Tim Tebow at the Senior Bowl and my original opinion has not been swayed. I believe the odds are stacked against Tebow ever becoming a starting QB at the next level. I have two major concerns: His release and his accuracy on drive throws.

Before delivering the ball, he drops it below his waist, cocks it and then wheels it forward at a slow rate of speed. He needs a lot of room in the pocket to operate and he won’t be granted that space at the next level. If he comes off his first read, he doesn’t have the time to re-#### and deliver the ball.

He is comfortable on bucket throws. He can lay the ball up high in the air on fades and corner routes and drop it in the bucket. However, he really struggles to drive the ball downfield with velocity and accuracy. You have to be able to drive the ball on skinny posts, deep out routes and comebacks. The windows are small and the ability to place the ball accurately with velocity is incredibly important.

He is best suited to go to a team with an established QB. He can contribute in the wildcat stuff while developing his skill as a TE/HB.

Sure, it's possible that Tebow's the next Jim Kelly. But the odds would seem much more likely that he's the next Todd Collins or Rob Johnson or J.P. Losman or Trent Edwards.

What about the next Joe Ferguson or Jack Kemp? Hell, he could be a Senator and VP candidate in 30 years, LOL.

Oh well, if Daniel Jeremiah proclaims that Tim Tebow will never become an Nfl QB, it must be so. eh, Jeff

I'm just posting his opinion on the matter. I've always appreciated and respected his thoughts and opinions on football topics. For the record, I don't think Tebow won't be an NFL QB, but I do think it's an uphill battle to be a successful QB, which I would equate to a Top 10 QB ranking.

Oh, well, if you proclaimed he'll be the next Jim Kelly, that must be so. (Is that how this works? Am I doing it right? God, I hope I'm doing it right!!)So, what this thread should be titled, apparently, is "I think Tim Tebow will be the next Jim Kelly. If you don't, then don't bother to reply in here."? Just wanted to be sure.Tim Tebow is probably going to be lucky if he's the next Reggie Kelly, let alone Jim. And Daniel Jeremiah has nothing to do with my opinion.

I think the best thing that could happen to Tebow would be to land on a team with an elite starter so he could sit on the bench for a few years and learn how to pass the ball in a real offense.

Unfortunately, there aren't many teams who fit that description and appear likely to draft a QB in the top 100. He's much more likely to end up on a Cleveland/St. Louis/Denver type of team where he'll be rushed into action prematurely and eaten alive.
