We did discuss him on the podcast this week, and a little bit last week too maybe.
Here's a taste of what the subscribers have gotten on him this week to supplement Norton's projection.
W6 Upgrades
S Melvin Bullitt, IND (6 solos, 4 assists, 0 sacks 0 FF, 0 FR, 1 INT, 1 PD) - A report came out this week that Bob Sanders is expected to be out of the Colts lineup until November. That additional window of opportunity could make his replacement, Melvin Bullitt, a viable player to pick up if you're looking for additional DB depth to get you through the bye weeks. Bullitt made the team as an undrafted free agent last year and he's now put up 12 solos, 6 assists, and an interception in his two starts. He's a bit of a liability in the secondary, but he's also likely to see plenty of tackle opportunities as the Colts continue to struggle against the run.

In the past, it's been Antoine Bethea who assumed the bulk of the value after a Bob Sanders injury. This time around, it's undrafted free agent Melvin Bullitt, who looks very active and capable at SS. Bullitt had a very favorable scouting profile for IDP leaguers two drafts ago, but wasn't able to crack an NFL roster. Bullitt is showing off his solid in-the-box safety skills now, however, and should be a solid bye week/injury replacement as long as he remains a starter in Indianapolis.
W6 EOTG
Bob Sanders being injured is hardly something new. What is new this year is who the club has plugged in as his replacement. When Sanders first went down we at FBG were telling you that Antoine Bethea was the guy to pick up. That had been the case when Sanders was injured previously and Matt Giordano replaced him. Now that we have seen a few games, its clear why the club decided to go with Melvin Bullitt instead of Giordano. If not for the different number no one would know that Sanders is gone. The coaches are using Bullitt just like the would use Sanders and he producing just like Sanders who by the way, is not close to returning. Bullitt is has gone 6-2 and 6-4 with a pick in his 2 starts and seems very likely to continue that kind of production. Especially when you consider the Colts inability to stop the run up front and their upcoming schedule that includes Baltimore, Green Bay, Tennessee, New England, Pittsburgh and San Diego over the next 6 weeks. Grab this guy if you have a need or room.
W6 IDP Matchups (Tackle Matchup to Exploit)
Indianapolis defenders Vs Baltimore (Matchup of the Week)
The Ravens, regardless of how much their 27th ranked scoring offense has struggled, have been a very good matchup for opposing defenses. They have consistently provided well above-average rush attempts (40.3 per game) and have run more offensive snaps on average (68.3) than any other team in the league. Coupled with the inability of the Indianapolis defense to get off the field quickly (6th most offensive snaps faced), this would appear to be a very good tackle matchup for all the Colt defenders. Look for all three linebackers to have great weeks and watch for Melvin Bullitt to continue his solid trend of production.
