2025 Offseason Rankings and such (3 Viewers)

We will always stan Footballguys but if anybody here has never checked out the premium features on our site, DM me and I'll gift you a 1-month comp. We have dynasty rankings updated weekly and best ball rankings are up to 300 players. ADP will be coming in the next couple months as our best ball drafts wrap up.
I will always keep my FBG subscription as I enjoy all the features of the site (including this message board) but I may take you up on this offer....

I took a break last year but will be maintaining a composite combined rookie only with IDP list this year. Still continuing to tweak and draft locations will obviously change up a lot (more for the offense than the defense). I'm in a 12 team and a 16 team so tiers are fluid in number. Always appreciate thoughts!

13 Laiatu Latu IND
I think he is way too high. Ind rotates guys a lot and still have quite a few rushers to contend with. Paye looked as good or better than Latu as a rookie and still hasn't really gotten the full opportunity or results. I would flip this ranking with the next guy......

25 Nik Bonitto DEN
Dominated as the year went along. Denver is only going to be better this coming year and this guy is a beast. If he is in this area for ranking I will be having a lot of him as I think he can be a top 15 guy

47 Yaya Diaby TB
Another guy I think is way undervalued. He showed spurts of dominance and had a lot of pressures that didn't result in sacks early on and then he got dinged a bit that hampered him. But he finished strong with 2.5 sacks over the last three games. I think he is primed for a big year.

72 Malcolm Koonce LV
Don't forget about this guy. He missed all last year with an injury but as really good the year before kind of out of nowhere. He is opposite Crosby so has the single teams all game long. He will likely be forgotten about so might be some late round value as a dart throw

92 Nick Herbig PIT
All he needs is playing time. Highsmith and Watt have had a lot of injuries over the past few years and Herbig has performed great when on the field. If he gets the PT he will be a monster. I would get him late everywhere.

10 Quay Walker GB
I think the torch has been passed. I would drop him out of the top 20 and won't be getting him much if this is where he is valued.

14 Quincy Williams NYJ
24 Jamien Sherwood NYJ
I think these guys should be flipped. Sherwood had the dot and was everywhere. Word is Mosely is retiring so it will be these two guys and I like Sherwood more.

23 Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah CLE
Tough to know what to do here. He may be cleared or he may not play again. I haven't really found any info on his status so not sure what to think of him. If you can get him really cheap it might be worth the risk.

29 Blake Cashman MIN
He is great in Flores D and never comes off the field. He woudl be a target for me as a top 20 guy.

35 E.J. Speed IND
He is a FA so landing spot will be key. Ind is great for LB's and IDP. If his next spot is not then he really takes a hit.

40 Josey Jewell CAR
Kind of boring but good for IDP. The kind of guy you get as your LB3/4 and will put up LB2 numbers with the odd LB1 week.

52 Jaylon Carlies IND
My choice for taking over Speed. I am getting him wherever I can.

71 SirVocea Dennis TB
Starting to come on when he hurt is shoulder. Late round dart throw to see if he gets the job and I think he will.

Just had one forum member take me up on this offer. DM if you want to do the same! We just published our 2025 best ball rankings.

Darnit, this was free last month... I believe I recall that Bonitto is due for regression based on expected sacks.

I agree. Expected sacks say he's due for a boom next season.

Koonce is a FA, though - no idea if he goes back to the Raiders.

Sherwood is a FA this offseason.

Kind of stinks in coverage, he might be left without a seat.

Me too.

I didn't get him in as many leagues as Carlies, but did everywhere I could.

I missed that Bobby Wagner re-signed. Knock Jordan Magee down the rankings.

Also Terrel Bernard signed a huge extension. With them ditching the 100% 2-LB set, that hurts the rest of the Bills LBs.

Ernest Jones and Jamien Sherwood resigned by their teams too - this is pretty bizarre. It probably hurts Knight a bit in Seattle as the second LB, and we weren't really elevating anyone on the Jets.

Ourlads is such a great resource during free agency. Their updates may/may not be right, but there is something to be said for real time depth chart updates with all the adds, cuts, trades, etc.

Most interesting one to me so far is Deablo to ATL - I wonder what that does to an already muddy situation.

Here are a few more signings that could be of interest:
  • Jonathan Allen/Hargrave (Min): immediate improvement on the interior DL. Might push Turner, AVG, & Greenard to new levels
  • Roberts (Oak): Spillane and Deablo gone. Maybe a nice solid LB2floor here
  • Chase Young (NO): resigns
  • Ossai (Cin): Might get a chance if healthy with Hubbard retiring and Hendrickson without a landing spot yet
  • Greenlaw (Den): Might be a nice stash
  • Hoecht (Buf): did well in LA maybe he gets more chances but probably not
  • Davis-Gaither (Ari): Someone has to make tackles
  • Burks (Cin): Nothing to see here
  • Malik Harrison (Pit): Reunited with Queen. Will he actually get a chance. Might be a hit to P. Wilson
  • Darrel Taylor (Hou): Showed flashes in Sea.
  • Barton (Ten): does this knock Al-Azeez down?
  • Koonce (LVR): Stays oppo Crosby. Was great in 2023 when healthy. Might be a deep sleeper worth a dart throw
  • Pat Jones (Car): Excelled in small sample size last year in Minny. Can that continue with full snaps? Will he get full snaps?
  • Grady Jarrett/Odeynigbo (Chi): Revamped line. Jarrett probably helps Dexter more than himself and if Odey gets full time snaps he might be really good
  • Josh Sweat (Ari): Somebody had to get to the QB, right?
  • Spillane (NE): Probably liked him better in Vegas

So far, Davis-Gaither and Elandon Roberts are the biggest winners to me - I had ADG stashed in a couple of leagues.

To your point, it's muddy short-term, but from a contract structure perspective it makes sense. As is both Elliss and Andersen expire at season's end, so this doesn't leave them boxed into next season's free agent class. I think this may create a buying opp for Andersen though. Even if he can't ever stay on the field, the price of admission is going to drop to a deep discount now. If you don't already have him, pitch a lot ball offer, and if he misses, you're not out much more than use of the roster spot.

Is Murray 100% roster lock? I am not sure that he is.
Oh, no - roster bonus due in a week, will know by then.
Gifford is gone to SF. If Murray gets cut its the Gibbens / Gray showdown for the 2nd ILB spot. Lotto tickets for this are pretty much free right now. and it would be wise to have at least one in leagues with 3+ starters at LB.
Gibbens is FA and his injury maybe quite severe to his ability to play in the future.

Under the radar: Ugo Amadi was CB1 in my league weeks 8-18. Adebo’s gone and Amadi’s back. New DC so we can’t rely on his role being the same, but he should be rostered in case it is.

Huh. Funny. Interesting tip. Do you mind if I expound a little? I dropped him to get down to the Zealots forty-man roster. I watched him at the end of the year, and he can't cover to save his life. They wrote an article about him two days after the Saints got killed up in Green Bay and the writer was not kind to Amadi.

He was in the slot a lot, but he was only getting 50%-70% of the snaps when I had him. So I turned him loose after the year. He's not great in coverage and he's a fourth-round pick that's bounced from Seattle (who drafted him in 2019) to Philly to Tennesee to KC to NO. He's moved from team-to-team pretty rapidly since 2022. Four teams. He's been traded by Philly within ten days of his arrival in a trade from Seattle in 2022, traded to Tennessee from Philly ten days later, waived from Tennessee, couldn't carve out a role in KC, and now he plays for NO.

His snap shares decreased last year from Week 14 at 100% to Week 15 at 79%; to Week 16 at 61%; and then to Week 17 at 48%. Then back up to 70% for Week 18. He finished as CB31 but he did average 13.5 points or so when he played, which puts him in first place among all CBs. So I don't know. He only played because Adebo was injured, but as you note, Adebo is gone.

I don't know what to make of it. I appreciate the tip, but I'd temper expectations if I were the reader. He'll wind up off the field if he doesn't get better in coverage. Unless, of course, NO doesn't have anybody else, which given their cap situation is completely possible. If he's on the field playing that teams' slot corner, then yeah, definitely fire him up. If he bounces around or the situation changes, I'd be wary. And he's also the kind of guy that can get yanked off of the field in a game because of his coverage, so that's something to consider. He was 180th out of 222 CBs in coverage grade from PFF, clocking in with a grade of 50.0. His overall grade was a 55.2, good for 160th out of 222.

So that's his story, really. Probably way too much and you probably know all that, but he was my slot corner for the playoffs this year until the finals (thank God I rested him because of his plummeting snap count, although it didn't matter because I got wiped and trucked in the same week) from about Week 12 on, so yeah, I'm familiar and can share some musings.

May I suggest a corner to watch or a click to pick? This is only if he stays in the slot . Renardo Green of San Francisco. He'll be a second-year guy out of Florida State who was drafted in the second round by the 49ers (64th pick?). He was a rookie last year and he manned the slot (at least at times) for the 49ers. Anyway, after their bye in Week 9 his playing time increased and he wound up averaging 11.22 points in our league, which was good for CB6 during that time span (Amadi was CB1 with 15 points per). Green is apparently terrible in run defense (PFF has him at 46.9 for a grade, or 195th out of 222 CBs), but his coverage grade is excellent. It's around a 75, putting him 27th out of 222.

I know in tackle-heavy leagues (or any league) that we're looking for corners who make stops in the run game in the box, and the PFF grades would suggest he should play outside, but IIRC he played slot and actually had a game where they were all over him and praising his run tackling ability. I think it was against the Miami Dolphins. He played safety at Florida State from 2020-2022, but was moved outside for his last year of school. Once he got to the 49ers, they moved him inside to nickel corner pretty quickly into spring training, where he went on to win the job after San Francisco's bye.

Just somebody to keep an eye on. He's been called physical and tough at 6'0", 186 lbs., but he can play outside, so beware if you're throwing down mad cash on him in bidding. He might wind up there (ourlads.com has Green as the starting RCB and Deommodre Lenoir as the nickelback, which I think is flipped from last year). I don't necessarily know what position they intend to run him out there at this year. If you're that good in coverage, you'll probably wind up outside, and we don't necessarily want that. But they wanted Lenoir concentrating on the outside receivers, leaving the slot for Green this past year after he won the job from Isaac Yiadom.

Just someone to keep on the radar. I know nickels are a dime a dozen, but getting a potential top twelve guy can't hurt anyone, really.

Way more than I knew about his path. Poopy player on capped out team with opportunity = ??? CB1? Benched? No idea, but I’m rostering him in case.

I’m irritated with currently available dynasty rankings. DLF had 4/5 rankers and FBG had 2/4 rankers updating post-free agency, and IDP Show is always being updated. So overall, that’s 7 post-FA rankings and 4 from pre-FA (Macri is the other pre-FA set) that I’m averaging. Look at these massive swings in average ranking of LBs after free agency:
-ADG: LB71 to LB70
-Elandon Roberts: LB99 to LB100
-Omar Speights: LB71 to LB73
-Dee Winters: LB100ish to LB87!!! Actual movement!
-Jaylon Carlies: LB52 to LB53
-Shaq Thompson: LB80 to LB80
-Troy Andersen: LB41 to LB43
-Alex Singleton: LB37 to LB38
-Divine Deablo: LB57 to LB55

I can’t see updating post-FA and not moving these guys more significantly.

Other than click farming, I don't see the purpose in updating ranks before ~May 5. Let the dust settle from the draft then priority UFA's signed after the comp pick timeline passes April 28 - target about a week before OTA's. i.e. my thoughts on Elandon Roberts now are little different than before FA. His situation looks great right now, but I expect that to change over the next 6 weeks. He's not an 80+%er.

impacts so far on the 2025 draft
Atl trying to get a Parsons
Baun gets a worthy teammate
Cinny finally going to stop riding mid Wilson and Pratt

Does anyone know when the IDP rookie rankings usually get updated? Rookie draft starts this coming Friday...

I gotta admit, FBGs IDP talk is not what it used to be. We just had a great IDP draft and I keep checking for some talking points

For me its so hard to decide between Walker, Campbell or Schwenger as LB1 this yr.
Walker looks like a Parsons clone but smaller, Parsons is a great football player but due to being tagged as an LB you live or die by the sacks depending on how many pts your league gives per sack. Checking my leagues during his best yr (2021) Parsons was anywhere from LB20 to LB10.
Campbell will have Baun next to him for atleast the next 3 to 4 yrs and Baun look like a beast last yr
Schwenger has Hicks who is 32 yrs old currently and JOK who always seems nicked up.

I've been leaning towards Campbell because Dean did well, then Schwesinger, simply because like you said the guys in front of him have question marks. I can see MFL switching Walker to edge, which would really hurt his value in my IDP league.
