PITTSBURGH (KDKA) The Port Authority is looking into bus slogans that some are calling offensive.

Officials say theyve recently received complaints that one of its slogans, Ziggin Zaggin, is offensive when read backwards, seeming to spell out a racial slur.

Jim Ritchie with the Port Authority says they will remove the messages from buses.

due to recent complaints about how this message appears when read backward, we have decided to remove the message from our vehicles, he said. This will take us several days to properly remove. We apologize to anyone who may have been offended.

He says the message has appeared on Port Authority buses since 2003.

Ritchie also says covering the messages probably wont cost much, since the buses will likely just be covered with new advertising.

I think this bus issue further proves my point.

Sign on a bus that has no racist intent whatsoever...has been on there for 13 years...gets pointed out by idiots who are constantly on the prowl...watching...searching...ever on the lookout for something to be offended by and now something HAS to be done to correct this horrible atrocity.

No matter how insignificant the slight...when a particular side cries foul...something MUST be done. We gotta pump the brakes on this nonsense and start looking to treat everyone the same.

That's how the original complainer saw it, which is weird because it looks more like nippaS that way than anything. Even more of a stretch, IMO.

Is it offensive as an acronym using the 1st letters of each word?

Is it offensive in any language ever spoken?

Does the shape or any graphic resemble a Muslim character, or look like what someone might think Muhammed should look like?

Do the colors used align to the RGB codes of any known racist organization?

Are there hidden swastikas?

Do any of the people in the ad have a toothbrush mustache? (i.e. Hitler 'stache)

Are we using terms that were once OK, but are now considered offensive? (Midget, Colored, Redskin, Oriental)

Do we portray as many races as possible in the ads? Can't have JUST white folks in the ad.
