C. Peerman (1 Viewer)

Anyone see C. Peerman moving up the Cleveland DC now that they claimed him off waivers? FBG had him ranked as the #3 RB coming out this season in their draft guide and J. Harrison or A. Davis couldn't beat out the old man J. Lewis to win the starting RB job. Thoughts?

I think next year (unless a rash of injuries hit this year) Peerman will have more reps in practice to show what he can do compared to sitting behind three established contributors in Baltimore. He didn't have many opportunities in the preseason, but when he was in the game he did flash good speed, quickness, hands, and pass protection skills in very limited time. What didn't look good was his lack of decisiveness on some runs and I heard he fumbled the ball in practice a few times, which can really hurt a player beginning that low on the depth chart.

I still believe he's a good player to place on a practice squad with future upside because James Davis seems to have erased all the excitement about Jerome Harrison (especially if we learn that the beat writer's reports about Davis' pass blocking already exceeding Harrison's are true). Peerman is a decent pass protector with good speed and more mass/strength than Harrison. So it's entirely possible that Peerman could work his way onto the active roster by next season and be a part of a 1-2 punch.

Peerman cut today, apparently. He's been fighting a thigh injury, and they needed the roster spot. Bummer. =/

any thoughts on who might pick him up?
It seems like he's been banged up since the early preseason, so hasn't had the chance to really show anything. He might just be heading for the practice squad, because I'm not sure who else would want to take a flyer on an injured, late-round RB that multiple teams with perceived RB needs passed on. I'd like to see St. Louis nab him, since they need quality depth, but...

I'm sure a practice squad position may be available to him.
does anyone know if this kid has a blog/twitter/fbook or anything to hear anything about what he's up to? i doubt we'll get much more info about him from convential news sources being a practice squad guy, i think i'm gonna hang tight and hope he does something somewhere, i was happy he landed in cleveland i thought that would be a great place for him, it's a shame about the thigh injury holding him back

Haven't heard anything, either. Obviously, I've been leading the hype about this guy around here and so far it just isn't looking good. There's always going to be guys like this every year who look really good on film, show good skills, but a variety of things happen. Look at Kelley Washington - seven years ago he was a 4th round pick by the Bengals because of a neck issue but was deemed a good physical talent with skills. He's just starting to show his capabilities with his third team and his first true opportunity in the offensive lineup.

I'm still holding onto Peerman, but to get cut by the Browns when none of their RBs look spectacular doesn't look good for him. Then again, there are examples of teams not opting to take or hang onto players who blossomed elsewhere when their depth charts didn't look all that good.

yeah it's always hit or miss, and a late rookie pick isnt expensive at all if it doesn't pan out, but the game becomes how long do you hold onto him and by pass potential waiver wire pickups, this is where cost becomes a factor

 Don't remind me I was high on his potential. As for Peerman, I've been solid all along that he's not NFL RB material. Give him some time to prove me wrong :)

Wow... just wow. Guy never produced in college becomes a workout warrior and DraftGuys jumps all over him, this board goes nuts. He was being taken as high as the second round in some of my dynasty drafts. I've said it before but he garnered Lorenzo Booker and Chris Henry hype. These guys go on to repeat themselves over the course of their careers.

:) Owners are holding him in most of my dynasty leagues, it's a wasted roster spot. He's nothing.

I liked your post, but this has to go, "Wow... just wow".
