Calipari and Kentucky under NCAA investigation (1 Viewer)

NEW YORK -- The New York Times is reporting that the NCAA is looking into the academic history and recruitment of former Kentucky star Eric Bledsoe.

The report posted on the Times' website late Friday says the NCAA has sent investigators to several places in Alabama to ask about Bledsoe, who declared for the NBA draft after one season with the Wildcats. Bledsoe graduated from A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham.

The Times said most of the questions center on Bledsoe's academic history, payments made for an apartment shared by him and his mother, and whether his high school coach demanded money from schools that were recruiting him.

That didn't take long. :lmao:

His grade-point average improved significantly after scoring an A in an online biology course, which replaced a D from his sophomore year.
Let me take an educated guess of how it went down:"Hey nerdy kid. Go take this online course for me, while I go bang the head cheerleader on her dad's bed."

Apparently the kid had a really tough life (lived in a car for a while). Its an awful story.

Sadly, anyone who saw that kid at his press conference when he committed to UK had to know something was up. I know the NCAA requirements aren't much, but Bledsoe couldn't even speak in complete sentences. There's no chance that he got the grades and scores to get into college.

FWIW, Florida "insiders" claim that Bledsoe's handler demanded money while he was on his official to UF. Probably just sour grapes though.

The funny thing is that the UK supporters claim that their compliance officer Sandy Bell is the best in the business. Anyone with a brain could speak to that kid for 2 seconds and know he didn't pull the grades he needed his senior year without a little help.

edit: to be fair, all of the alleged violations happened before Calipari even got to UK. plus, as far as we know, UK wasn't even involved.

sad thing is that UK (just like Memphis) will pay the price while Bledsoe and that piece of #### Calipari will move on.

Prediction: UK gets last season wiped off the books, a minor slap on the wrist, but Cal still heads to the NBA, which he probably would have done without this matter.

Incidentally, Calipari has always been known as a master recruiter (which he is), but his bench-coaching is sometimes minimized. Well anyone who questions his coaching ability now is looney tunes.

Yes, he's been a wizard on the bench this year. Pretty amazing stuff
