Calling iphone experts... (1 Viewer)

My son's iphone 6 was continuously saying "Searching" in the upper left in place of signal bars.  Hoping it is not an internal antenna issue, I tried a hard reboot...no effect.  I tried resetting network settings...no effect.  I tried removing and replacing the SIM card while powered down.  This had an effect.  Unfortunately, the upper left corner now says "NO SIM" instead of Searching.  When booting up, a message says no SIM card is installed.  I have double and triple checked the SIM card and it seems to be seated correctly.  I am currently trying a software update hoping that will fix the both the No SIM and Searching issue.

Anyone know other tricks?  If the update does not resolve the issues, is this when I surrender and put myself at the mercy of the Apple Store?

Go to the Apple store, they’re less likely (in my experience) to push a new phone and more likely to show of their individual skill at problem solving.

Did the software update work?  Is he on the latest iOS?  I’ve seen a similar thing happen, and it went away after downloading an update.

Software update didn't change a thing...still was saying "No SIM".  I popped out the SIM card and reinserted it again very firmly.  Booted up and did not get the No SIM car installed message!  But now it says "No Service" in the upper left.   Grrrrr....  Maybe I have an iffy SIM card and a bad antenna.
