Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

Martz on whether Calvin Johnson takes over Williams’ lead role among the receivers:

“You can shift some of the attention to him. They just get different looks in coverages. But we’ll do some different things with Calvin. He had just a marvelous practice yesterday and they all really did a nice job. We’re trying to get him a little more involved. But you’ve got to be careful because he’s still not exactly at 100%, but he’s getting pretty close, so we’re encouraged by that."

I heard that Calvin back problem has not healed, and he took another hit two weeks ago and reinjured the back. Although he can play CJ is clearly not 100%, and I doubt he will be this season.

It is not an injury that will show up on the injury report, just a nagging back injury that he can play over.

A little more involved may mean 3 catches for 48 yards and no TDs. I've rolled the dice with him a lot this year, but he playoffs is a dangerous place to take those kind of chances. :goodposting: I know that there have been rumblings about garbage time points, but as a Calvin owner (and big fan), I've lowered expectations dramatically and have him resting comfortably on my bench

would you start him over Andre Johnson, considering Johnson is going up against Tampa Bay's strong pass defense?

Not to make this a WDIS thread, but I'm starting Crayton and Marshall over him.

For me, if AJ's healthy then he's in my lineup. I think he's a top 10-15 WR when healthy. CJ might (should) get there someday but not yet.

Are you insane?

I'm starting them both. Though AJ wouldn't leave my lineup for anyone not named Braylon or Randy.

Is there any evidence that supports the idea that Martz actually gets him involved after saying that the week before? It seems like he says that about Megatron every other week.

With Fitz a GTD, I gotta choose between Bryant Johnson and Calvin. I have Calvin in right now, but this is the playoffs for us, so I need a contributor.

I wish I could believe that Martz means what he said, but I am very leery right now. GDB coachspeak.
