Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

Personally I think St Louis would be a great place for him from a fantasy perspective and possibly for winning as well.

They have a good young QB

Veteran RB depth

No real #1 WR

Solid, improving defense

He might be the very thing to put them over the top by making them a consistent offensive presence.

Is this seriously news? Every last player on the Lions thinks about leaving that organization when their contracts are up. It's naive to think otherwise. Who wants to waste his career playing for a loser? The same goes for Buffalo, and probably Carolina, Cincy, and Cleveland as well.
I remember when the Saints were the Aints. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lions turned there fortunes around. All they need is a defensive coordinator and another good draft.

Calvin has TWO full season after this left on his deal. If the Lions have not turned the corner by then I hope he does leave.

Carolina? Most players enjoy playing there. Did you forget they played your team in the Super Bowl, and have been to the playoffs two more times since then? They are having a bad year, but they aren't perpetual losers.
Hey, easy. We're trying to make the Lions fans feel better. Sheesh.

Can't say I blame him. As a selfish Lions fan though, I REALLY do not want to see him go. He's one 1st round WR that actually panned out! Heck, he's one 1st rounder PERIOD that panned out!

I'm sure he sees a vast improvement in the team (attitude and play), but improvement needs to turn into wins or you won't see anyone wanting to ever come to Detroit. I think that's why next

year will be THE deciding factor (assuming we have a next year) for a number of things. First and foremost, whether Schwartz gets to stick around and continue trying to turn this thing around...

To tell you the truth, this is something that was started by Detroit sports radio WXYT host Mike Valenti and his partner Detroit News columnist Terry Foster. For the past 2 years + these guys have been attempting to create this story. First it started with a "would you trade Calvin" show, Valenti of course took the stance that he would trace Johnson for draft picks... The show got a ton of calls with many idiots that over-value draft picks that agreed with Valenti and Foster, but mostly true Lions fans that said it was a stupid idea.

IMO, Valenti and Foster are trying to boost their ratings. Although on an all sports talk format, their show mostly focuses on non sports issues. Friday afternoon, these morons advocating legalizing prostitution in Detroit all afternoon. Valenti has a big head. He thinks his awful show knock the legendary "Stoney and Wojo" show off the afternoon sports throne. Valenti and Foster lucked into their prime afternoon gig shortly before their station moved to FM and the rival sports radio WDFN (owned by Clear Channel) cleaned house and fired the legendary Mike Stone and Bob Wojnowski "Stoney and Wojo", as well as most of the staff. WDFN is now moving Sean Baligian and Tom Kowalski to afternoons. Baligian has a large following and strong connection with Detroit sports fans. I'm sure many of you know of Tom Kowalski Detroit Lions beat writer for the past 20 or so years.

My 2 cents, Valenti is a whiney biotch with a big mouth and Foster is a hot-headed non-contributer that doesn't offer much unless provoked. I hate it when reporters try to fabricate stories. When you ask leading questions, you can make a saint look like a devil... .

This is a non-story... These clueless idiots are only trying to save their ratings lead.

Two predictions:

1. There will be a huge swing in the ratings for afternoons in WDFN's favor.

2. Valenti and Foster will be moved or canned and WXYT will put Stone on afternoons (which won't work anyway)

:goodposting: Thanks for clearing this up man

Hey Megatron, why don't you come over this side of the pond? Leave Glass Joe and join up with the Bears? Live in a big city, be a star...and win some championships!

You know you want to.

Calvin's the kind of dude that just wants to hang out with some friends.. maybe play some ps3 or something.. but the doods all work and isn't the clubbin, wyling out kind of big city guy.. he doesn't want that type of attention, and he's already a star.He just wants to win and then do his own thing with family and friends when it's over.

Calvin is not a bar hopper or clubber. Said his favorite thing to do after games is to go out for a seafood dinner and go to a movie.

Two wins in a row. End a baaaaad 26 game away losing streak. If they can maybe pull out another win out of the next two, I can see a lot of attitudes

changing. Especially since we lost so many games by very small margins. That's a drastic improvement. There's no way Calvin could not see that...

This is not speculation, this is fact. If the Lions continue to suck ###, Calvin will leave. He is putting it out there now so that the fans won't be surprised when he decides it is time to advance his career. I know he appreciates his fans, but he only has 2 choices: remain loyal to an organization that has not progressed in decades or make every attempt to do what every other player in the league wants to do: WIN A SUPER BOWL

Look at Raiola. That guy is going to snap one day because he should have left years ago and views himself as a loser because of it. However, he will always be viewed as a loyal Detroit Lion. Then there is Jason Hanson. Something tells me he may be kind of happy to finally have a good reason to retire, yet he will also be viewed as a loyal player. Honestly, I don't think the Lion's woes can be attributed to the players. Think about it, they all come from the same player pool in the beginning and they transform once they reach the organization. Something in the organization is subconsciously teaching them how to execute a false start on the first play of every drive. When this happens, the players don't feel as bad about their stupidity because the guy next to him did the same thing on the previous drive (or play). When they go back to practice, the coach has so many things in his head to spaz out about that it is impossible to focus on one (or a few) mistakes. This creates a lack of focus for the coach and insanity for the players.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

Tip to prevent insanity: If you are a Lions fan, don't watch the 4th quarter of any Lions game. It will add years to your life.
mooch, a fact is something that can be proved true or false. What you have is speculation, coupled with emotion.
