Car question (1 Viewer)

If it matters, I drive a 2005 Infiniti g35x (I'm guessing it doesn't, but in case it does....)

Anway, my heater blows air - sometimes cool, when I'm at a stop light or otherwise idling.

Blows the needed warm air when I give it gas or moving (giving it gas).

Any idea what the problem may be in this scenario?

And if you have a good idea, any further idea how major/expensive a fix it is oris it something a mental midget (me when it comes to cars) can do?

Thanks!

Not a mechanic, but check your anti freeze. If that's low, it'll cause problems with your heat.

the thermostat could be malfunctioning????? If it is wide open the engine woud not heat up enought to produce warm although you say it does blow warm when you are moving....If you rev the engine while in neutral does it blow warm?

We had a Dodge Dakota that had A/C issues...ran fine when you were decelerating, but when you were accelerating or at highway speeds, it hardly blew at all. Turned out to be some clogged/severed vacuum lines. Add that to the check list.

I don;t know enough about new cars but in the oldie days I would say it's this, easy part to replace.

Question for car experts, if I am currently using synthetic oil, when I change my oil can I go back to using conventional oil or do I need to stay with synthetic?

/* Disclaimer - I'm not a mechanic - Disclaimer */ but I do know how to google. ;) Anyway, from what I've read you may need to change the coolant or the coolant may be low or you may have air in the cooling system. Either way here's a video on how to change the coolant and bleed air from the cooling system. Linkage.

Hopefully he got it fixed by now. He's had almost 4 years. I currently have a problem with losing coolant in my car. I'm afraid it might be a head gasket or cracked head. Mechanic is doing some tests on it today. I think I'm going to try a block sealer if it's a head gasket.

Wow, I didn't even see how old the thread was. Damn I'm getting old.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

if it is a head gasket you will have coolant in your oil....easiest way to check is to have your oil changed. If not is is most likely a radiator hose. Easy to check, pop the hood and look for a leak or signs of a leak.
