Carrie Fisher hospitalized.. (1 Viewer)

Being that I was never a Star Wars fan, I might be the only person in the world who, if asked, "What is the first movie you think of when you hear the name Carrie Fisher," answers with When Harry Met Sally.

Not new news, but Carrie Fisher's brother Todd Fisher spoke for the family last night:

UPDATE: Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, has told the Associated Press that she’s “out of emergency” and is in stable condition. He did not offer any other details about what happened, though.

UPDATE, 9:00 p.m. ET: Fisher’s brother has now walked back his earlier statement, saying she is in intensive care and that “We don’t know [her condition]. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate, but now is not the time for that.”

She is at UCLA right where my sister works.
Good heart ward from what I understand.

My son died of Myocarditis, a silent killer where the heart inflames in response to a virus.  In our case, as is typical, there were only mild flulike symptoms prior to things becoming critical.

Around the same time, coincidentally, a very heath-conscious ex employee of mine took a similar turn and ended up in that ward for several weeks.

About a third with Myocarditis recovered, a third died and a third needed transplants.  He was a lucky one.  Apparently, it is one of the better cardiac units there is.

Fisher may have suffered a classic heart attack, but it very well could be Myocarditis -- which all things being as they are, would at least be good for awareness of the disease.  It's a leading cause of sudden death, is grossly underdiagnosed and underreported and is the subject of promising research that needs funding.

Even though I'm a huge Star Wars fan, I love her in Blues brothers.

I don't know if 2016 is that much worse or we are just getting older and this is going to be common here on out.

Regardless this sucks.

RIP

It's a byproduct of the increased celebrity culture. There's been a continued increase in the number of celebrities since the 1940s, so there will be an ever-increasing rise of celebrity deaths.
