Carson 2012 (1 Viewer)

Are you expecting him to play next year?

Does he still owe the Bengals a year or not in 2012?

If you're in a dynasty league where there are super slim pickings at QB, what are you doing?

intrigued by the question, :blackdot: for more on his contract from those in the know... there are a ton of carson haters on this board, hopefully we get a decent answer or three.

He owes the Bengals 4 more seasons. If he sits out 2011, he will still owe them 4 more seasons. If he sits out for 4 years.....he will still owe the Bengals 4 more seasons when he comes back.

But if he shows up, the Bengals have to pay him or cut him. $11.5 million this year, $11.5 million next year, $13M in Year 3 (2013), and $14M in Year 4 (2014). There's also a $9 million "Option Bonus" which, as far as I can tell, must be paid if he's on the roster at any time in 2011.

The ideal move for Palmer would have been to report the day before the season started. Now his best move is to pull a Vincent Jackson and show up just before Week 10, so he can collect 38% of his salary and burn a year off the contract. And he may still get that $9 Million option bonus.

Every week Palmer sits at home, Mike Brown gets $720,000* in free money.

*edit to fix my bad math

I don't belive that is the case with the new CBA.

Hmmm....you might be right:
A player shall not receive an Accrued Season for any League Year in which the player is under contract to a Club and in which he failed to report to such Club at least thirty days prior to the first regular season game of that season, or in which the player thereafter failed to perform his contract services for the Club for a material period of time unless he demonstrates to the Impartial Arbitrator extreme personal hardship causing such failure to report or perform, such as severe illness or death in the family. The determination of the Impartial Arbitrator shall be made within thirty days of the application by the player, and shall be based upon all information relating to such hardship submitted by such date. The determination of the Impartial Arbitrator shall be final and binding upon all parties.
But couldn't Palmer still qualify for an Accrued Season if he "performed his contract services" for the last 6 games of the year? Either that or he could take it to arbitration.
