Cassel or Griese (1 Viewer)

I just can't seem to get a feel for which one of these guys has the best chance for success. Cassel seems like he is in a good situation, but Griese threw the ball 67 times today. 67!!

All opinion are most appreciated!!

I'm gonna go with Griese. I just think he's in a better situation even though NE has Moss and Welker. Gruden is like Reid - when push comes to shove, he'd rather call a pass play. He runs the WCO and HE THREW 67 TIMES TODAY. He might not throw 67 in the next 2 weeks, but he'll throw more than Cassel, which I think makes him more valuable.

yeah...hard to argue against a guy who threw 67 times for 407 yards and 2 TDs against the Bears. That's dirty. Who could the Patriots possibly bring in to replace cassel. I say they have to stick with him for the rest of this season.....

I'm going to go against the grain and go with Cassel.

Tampa could not run it at all and the Bears were clearly daring Tampa to throw the ball. I'm going to go out on a very short limb and say Griese will not throw the ball 67 times in a game again this year and Tampa will not run the ball for less then 17 times again this year.

As for New England, although it may be an understatement to say that Cassel didn't look good, what really got exposed to today was the Patriots defense. Bellichek now knows that they have to open the playbook for Cassel for the Pats can not rely on their defense to keep the game at hand.

I'm not saying to expect to see Cassel throw the ball 67 times in a game, but through the course of the rest of the season I'd expect to see more out of Cassel and less out of Griese to the point that if I had to choose, I'd lay my money on Cassel... but I might want to odds. ;)

I would rather have Orton than Cassel. Scratch that...I would rather have Grossman than Cassel. And take that for what it's worth from a diehard Pat's fan. If you can't feel comfortable playing him vs MIA, then he's just not worth a roster spot. And God help anybody that has Randy Moss on their team.

So yes, Griese by a long shot.

Man...thought cassel would get a little more love. Guess this just isnt as close as i thought it was!! For what it's worth....saw where some other "professional fantasy guys" were not buying griese's big game today!!

Interesting, considering Grease now has 30 TDs and around 4000 yards in 18 Tampa starts. Add in that Gruden coughed up a draft pick to get him back, indicating regrets and/or plans for Griese this year, and I'd say the professionals might be missing the boat on this one. Gannon + Gruden = FF studGriese + Gruden = 30 TD and 4000 in 18 starts.Hmm...

Given the exceedingly low opinion of Cassel here, I think I'm going to make a lowball offer to the Cassel owner in a league where I need some QB help.

The Patriots defense has been exposed and therefore, perhaps Cassel will be put in a position to throw the ball around some more. Couple that with some soft defenses on the schedule and he could be a good low risk (depending on cost, of course), high reward player.

I'm amazed at how quickly opinions seem to have changed on a guy who has only started two games in years.

Agreed. Jesh, Cassel was only making his 2nd career start and hadn't played since high school and people are acting as if he would pick up where Brady left off. Brady didn't look to hot at times in his first year starting too.

Hmmm, I definitely see some of your points on the Gruden/Griese matchup. Are you suggesting that Gruden had intended to bench Garcia since preseason and that this is 100% Griese's team moving forward...

Gannon + Gruden = FF stud

Griese + Gruden = 30 TD and 4000 in 18 starts.
