Catalytic Converter (1 Viewer)

Over the past couple weeks, Ive noticed a little "slipping" in the engine. Saturday, my son had trouble starting the car and yesterday, my wife reported the car smelling like rotten eggs when they ran the A/C.

Are these signs of a bad Catalytic Converter? I'm no mechanic, but I always thought the converter didnt really impact the running of the car, but more of a cleanup for the environment?

Who has insights on this?

If it were the CC, the rotten egg smell would be coming from the exhaust.  If the smell is coming into the cabin only while running A/C I would guess that moisture from the A/C evaporator is causing mildew.... which I wouldn't describe as rotten eggs.  If the smell is when running the heater, I'd say it's a bad heater core.  I've had this go out, and while it smells bad, it's not rotten eggs either.
Thanks. I can’t vouch for the exact smell or where it’s coming from. I’m only getting it secondhand.

It’s part of your exhaust system so if it’s clogged or cracked at an inlet or outlet it could certainly impact performance
