Titans cornerback Pacman Jones has been absent from the team's offseason conditioning program lately, drawing the ire of Coach Jeff Fisher.
The program at the team's MetroCenter facility is not mandatory, but the Titans strongly encourage participation. Veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck was absent early in the offseason program, but he's now a regular.
"He knows where I stand on this, and this is his choice," Fisher said of Jones. "Keith has excelled and performed on the field at a very high level consistently for a number of years, Pac has not. … I have reason to believe he is working out. Beyond that, I don't know.''
Jones has been on the outskirts of two notable off-field incidents this offseason. Metro Police named him as an acquaintance of a man arrested in a major drug trafficking ring, and less than a week later Jones was a witness to gunshots at a local gas station at 1:50 a.m.
Titans owner Bud Adams is among those keeping an eye on Jones, who is coming off an up-and-down rookie season that also included some off-field problems.
"He doesn't seem to be able to stay out of trouble. I think he'll get out of that habit, though,'' Adams said Sunday. "I think the coaches let him know that he'll stay out of trouble or he won't be around long.''
