CBS Sportsline Auction/Salary Cap League (1 Viewer)

NoCheese

turn or burn
Just set up a new league w/ CBS Sportsline. Moved from Fanball (surprise!). My question is: how do you handle free agents/claims when you have a salary cap with no free agent "budget". Pickups are blind bids (highest bidder wins) but you must be at or under the $100 cap before your transaction will go through. I do them manually and want the amount of the winning (player's salary) to stay with that player when he is picked up.

Any input on this?

If I understand your question correctly, you can track player salaries. Go to My Team, click Set Lineup and then bring up the roster that you need to edit. At the bottom of their roster is a red button called "Edit wildcard values." That screen will let you input a salary for any and all players on the roster. It will also total them for you when you finish and show you if the owner is still below his salary cap.

Apologies if I misunderstood the question and am telling you something you already know.

VERY helpful. Thanks. So the system would allow bids that would put an owner over the $100 running salary cap, and the amount of said owner's bid WILL NOT automatically convert to his free agent winning bid salary on the roster, correct? It's also kind of sad that the roster grid doesn't list salaries. You have to be in the set lineup area and I'm not even sure a non-commissioner can see other teams' salaries

Are you using their FAAB blind bidding system? I'm not very familiar with it; we rejected using it when it first came out because we didn't like the way it handled ties. So I don't know the answer to your question. But, yes, if you use that wildcard salary field, everybody can see a team's salaries but you're right, they have to be in the set lineup area to do so. I think you're also right about the roster grid not displaying that info.

Yes, doing the manual FAAB system. I think I'll just post the salary for each team in the commissioner notes area. I'm assuming MFL is better for salary cap tracking. Anyone confirm this?
