CBS's new Assistant GM feature (1 Viewer)

CBS has a new Assistant GM feature. It is still only in Beta but it looks like it is already going to be an invaluable tool to help me win this year.Consider these bits of great advice:

Flacco, Joe QB BAL is not worth keeping on your roster.Drop Flacco, Joe QB BAL and claim Harrell, Graham QB GB Schaub, Matt QB HOU is not worth keeping on your roster.Drop Schaub, Matt QB HOU and claim Thigpen, Tyler QB MIA Mendenhall, Rashard RB PIT is not worth keeping on your roster.Drop Mendenhall, Rashard RB PIT and claim Tronzo, Joe RB CIN Fitzgerald, Larry WR ARI is not worth keeping on your roster.Drop Fitzgerald, Larry WR ARI and claim Farnham, Buddy WR NE
I have jumped all over Harrell, Thigpen, Tronzo and Farnham and dumped losers like Flacco, Schaub, Mendenhall and Fitzgerald. I am looking forward to using this feature each and every week. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there was a real former NFL GM like Matt Millen behind the scenes at CBS. :blackdot:

Is this for real?

ETA: meaning did it really make those recommendations, not did you follow them.

Wow, this looks like a great application to have in the tool chest. Is it only available to CBS fantasy league users?

Yes, absolutely for real. It had other great advice like drop Michael Turner for Thomas Brown of Cleveland too. I realize this is beta but my Lord this is ridiculous...

Yes but if you PM your team and send me $29.99 I will share the information with you all season long.

my recommendations are mostly reasonable.

Some aren't great, but some of the others aren't bad.

maybe your settings aren't done right.

On one of my teams:

Johnson, Calvin WR DET is not worth keeping on your roster.

1. Drop Johnson, Calvin WR DET and claim Hinkel, Ed WR IND Evaluate · Add/Drop

2. Bench Johnson, Calvin WR DET and start McCluster, Dexter WR KC Evaluate · Update Lineup

3. Drop Johnson, Calvin WR DET and claim Stuckey, Chansi WR CLE Evaluate · Add/Drop

Moss, Randy WR NE is not worth keeping on your roster.

1. Drop Moss, Randy WR NE and claim Strickland, Andy WR ATL Evaluate · Add/Drop

2. Drop Moss, Randy WR NE and claim Williams, Patrick WR GB Evaluate · Add/Drop

3. Drop Moss, Randy WR NE and claim Smith, Rodgeriqus WR SD

The only settings that I can see for the Assistant GM are to disable or hide it which might be the best advice it has to offer.

Yea thats pretty bad, but FBGs 'Rate My Team' comments aren't that great either sometimes. I was told by FBGs that my WRs are a 'serious concern'. I have Wayne, Maclin, Santonio, McCluster, and James Jones. They say Santonio is below average for a THIRD receiver??? Not fantastic but I wouldn't say a 'serious' concern'. I also supposedly have a lack of strength at QB with Schaub as my starter for hopefully all but one game. Some WRs that they recommend as 'upgrades' for me to consider include: Steve Breaston, Eddie Royal, Nate Burleson, Brian Robiskie, and Devin Aromashodu, Nate Washington, Mike Thomas, Brian Hartline, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and Mohamed Massaquoi. Really? Sorry, if I HAVE to only start 2 and MAYBE use one as a flex, I'd rather stick with my current WRs.

Bottom line is, these are automeated programs and won't be perfect. And I'm sure since this is BETA, they haven't worked out all the kinks (I hope).

UPDATE: Apparently CBS wised up on Matt Millen a lot quicker than the Lions did and gave him the boot. I just checked the Assistant GM and here is what it says now:

Tomlinson, LaDainian RB NYJ in your active lineup is being benched in many leagues, he is now started in 21% of leagues (down from 27% 3 days ago).Advice Given:1. Trade Moreno, Knowshon RB DEN to XXXXX for Addai, Joseph RB IND. Then activate him to replace Tomlinson, LaDainian RB NYJ 2. Trade Moreno, Knowshon RB DEN to YYYYY for Stewart, Jonathan RB CAR. Then activate him to replace Tomlinson, LaDainian RB NYJ 3. Bench Tomlinson, LaDainian RB NYJ and start Moreno, Knowshon RB DEN
So apparently they are working out some bugs.

And they hate Moreno as much as I do this yr.

Hey Pal, don't come into my thread knocking my RBs...

This is dead on. Not a good receiving core at all. I would hate to have Maclin as a #2 and Holmes as a #3

(I know, but it's close to being relevant)

It just told me to trade Beannie Wells for Stephen Gotkowski (K). Apparently it doesnt like Buehler and Dallas' offense. (I also have Prater - I get that weakness). Trade Wells for a kicker? I think they have some more bugs to work out.

Unless I'm missing something, I can't see anything wrong with this advice:

Robinson, Laurent WR STL is a below average option at his position.1. Trade Spiller, C.J. RB BUF to Who needs receivers for Jackson, Vincent WR SD. Then activate him to replace Robinson, Laurent WR STL

1. Drop Romo, Tony QB DAL and claim St. Pierre, Brian QB ARI Evaluate · Add/Drop

2. Drop Romo, Tony QB DAL and claim Pike, Tony QB CAR Evaluate · Add/Drop

3. Drop Romo, Tony QB DAL and claim Archer, R.J. QB MIN

1. Bench Peterson, Adrian RB MIN and start Jones, Thomas RB KC Evaluate · Update Lineup

2. Drop Peterson, Adrian RB MIN and claim Birmingham, DeCori RB CAR Evaluate · Add/Drop

3. Drop Peterson, Adrian RB MIN and claim Johnson, Gartrell RB NYG

1. Drop Finley, Jermichael TE GB and claim Mulligan, Matthew TE NYJ Evaluate · Add/Drop

2. Drop Finley, Jermichael TE GB and claim Peelle, Justin TE ATL Evaluate · Add/Drop

3. Drop Finley, Jermichael TE GB and claim Onobun, Fendi TE STL

Obviously it's a computer program with a serious glitch. Until they fix the glitch they need to remove it off of the website.

mine were legit? One said bench caddy for moreno (waiting for practice news) or forsett (not when caddy playing CLE)

one two leagues no moves :shark:

I wonder why yours are so wacky?

Stewart, Jonathan RB CAR in your active lineup is injured but remains probable to play.

1. Trade Thomas, Pierre RB NO to Team X for Turner, Michael RB ATL. Then activate him to replace Stewart, Jonathan RB CAR

The Millen GM feature obviously has no way of evaluating what players are worth. Pretty sure anyone that offered Thomas for Turner would get laughed at.

hmm, my assistant GM is all blank. i wanna experience the fun. it's not disabled in the settings either. weird.

Change your lineup, put in a sleeper reserve for an established vet or something. It'll be all blank only if it's got nothing to say. My team only has 1 suggestion, but once I started fooling around with lineup options, more popped up.

Ah man, and we finally quit getting robbed by CBS. Sounds like good times and great advice!

Keep the gems coming.

Mine has no suggestions on my starting lineup. When I put in bench players, it called all of them "below average."

Well its 1/3 into the season, almost half of our FF regular season, and I think my WRs are holding up nicely. I am VERY happy with Wayne and Maclin as my top 2 WRs and Holmes may still put up some good numbers going forward. I've bolstered up my WR corp and I'm even happier now. My point was that automated programs aren't perfect and everyone was dumping on CBS' program when it was still in Beta (haven't looked if its any better now) but defended FBGs program. FBGs were way off on a number of my players including Maclin, Keller, and Orton. Between the 4 FBG experts, I was given between 24-65% chance of making the playoffs with average in-season management. I never blamed FBGs for my draft and used it as an excuse, but I just didn't agree with their assessment.

Just wondering, how close were FBGs on rating your team?

Just looked at mine and gave me the following advise:

Williams, Keiland RB WAS is not worth keeping on your roster.

1. Drop Williams, Keiland RB WAS and claim Bears ST Evaluate · Add/Drop

2. Drop Williams, Keiland RB WAS and claim Patriots ST Evaluate · Add/Drop

3. Drop Williams, Keiland RB WAS and claim Chiefs ST Evaluate · Add/Drop

I agree with the drop part, but I question the adds.

We play IDP no team defense or special team points.

They said that I was a "virtual lock" to make the playoffs with this group...QB - Eli Manning, Kyle Orton

RB - Ray Rice, Jahvid Best, CJ Spiller, Marion Barber, Cadillac Williams, Correll Buckhalter

WR - Miles Austin, Greg Jennings, Hines Ward, Devin Hester, Jabar Gaffney, Derrick Mason

TE - Heath Miller

I'm 3-3, and currently 7th out of 12 teams. It would have been even worse if I didn't trade away some of the dead weight. Right now, I think I'll be lucky to make the playoffs.
