Cedric Benson (1 Viewer)

Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson has been building toward a breakout game, and it might come against the woeful run defense of the St. Louis Rams. Benson finally seems to be producing beyond his opportunities, which likely has earned him more playing time, though RB Thomas Jones will remain the starter. It's a nice combination: fresh legs with Benson and toughness, leadership and awareness with Jones. The coaches need to proceed with caution and be careful to keep Jones happy while giving Benson more time. But while Jones knows every assignment and game situation, Benson still doesn't display the awareness desired in a player of his caliber. After the game, Benson said this about his 24-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-one Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. "It was fourth-and-one? No ####?," Benson said after the game. "I didn't even know."
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: How do you not LOVE this guy???

I assume you are assuming he was joking. The sad part is, he's not. Watch the run again. What moron bounces the play outside on 4th & 1?? Keep in mind this was the same game that Fason tried to do the same thing from the endzone and got knocked for a safety. There are times when a 200+ lb. RB should just put his head down and bulldoze for a yard or two - 4th and 1 is one of those times. Don't get me wrong - I like Benson and think he will (and should) replace TJ soon - but if he gets nailed for a loss on that play...well, let's just say the QB wouldn't be the only one taking heat for poor decision making.

Yep, dumb people deserve love too. Especially big dumb future NFL stars.

I see what you're trying to get at here ..... but cmon. What Benson DID see is a wide open lane down the sideline. He was confident he could make it there and he went for it. He made it, he ran 20+ yards, and scored. He's fighting for a starting position and that's how you get it.TJ might have run up the gut for two yards ... and with the offense playing the way they were, we would have ended up kicking a FG anyway ...

Some players are great because they're willing to take risks to make extraordinary plays. Barry Sanders is an example of that and my personal favorite.
