ALERT: Bengals WR Chad Johnson was injured and removed from the field on a stretcher, in an ambulance.
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6417Johnson was reported to have movement in all his extremities and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Johnson moved his legs, but the doctors took great care with his head and team physician Rob Heidt held his head as Johnson was carted to a waiting ambulance.
In a grim scene, players from both teams and the Bengals coaches huddled around the stretcher, where teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh didn't leave his side.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said after the game that Johnson did not lose conciousness and was mobilized on a stretcher as a precaution because he had neck pain.
News and NotesYahoo! Sports Fantasy Football '07 PLAY NOW Oct 31 Mark Curnutte, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry is participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 31. He will be eligible to play Week 10.whats the status on chris henry? he could be a huge pick up if available on WW.
Even taking away CJ's injury today I doubt Henry is on the majority of WWs today except in leagues with small starting lineups. If he's still out there, go get him now. His suspension is over now and he's available to play next week.whats the status on chris henry? he could be a huge pick up if available on WW.
I picked him up right after it happened. I know alot of teams in my league (including myself) debated on picking him up...but at #3 WR it wsnt worth it. Now with CJ out...he is definitely worth it.Even taking away CJ's injury today I doubt Henry is on the majority of WWs today except in leagues with small starting lineups. Report at halftime of the Pats/Indy game seemed to indicate they are hoping he can play next week.So my guess is, he's OK. I mean, if they're already thinking about next week (assuming I read the phrasing right...)Just reported on the halftime show that CJ has motion and the CT scan results were "normal".
I realize that league sizes vary and so do scoring setups, but in my league last year he was WR#36 overall. There's usually about 80 WRs rostered.I picked him up right after it happened. They did have a game to win.Fellow receiver and good friend T.J. Houshmandzadeh jumped into the ambulance to be with Johnson.![]()
Happy not to hear the "We had a game to win" BS. Props to TJ for being a true friend.
Because Johnson is such a crappy teammate I suppose??They did have a game to win.Fellow receiver and good friend T.J. Houshmandzadeh jumped into the ambulance to be with Johnson.![]()
Happy not to hear the "We had a game to win" BS. Props to TJ for being a true friend. And then they lost.
If I were playing at that level I'd think I would want my teammates to concentrate on winning if I went down.
This makes no sense. ACP is right. I'm sure the whole team would like to be with Johnson, but they are being paid lots of money to do their job, and TJ is one of the key offensive players.Because Johnson is such a crappy teammate I suppose??They did have a game to win.Fellow receiver and good friend T.J. Houshmandzadeh jumped into the ambulance to be with Johnson.![]()

It makes about as much sense as the large crowd of people around here that consistently call Johnson a crapy teammate. This makes no sense. ACP is right. Sounds like nothing more than a scareChad Johnson was on the Bengals charter flight after having been released from a Buffalo area hospital.Johnson was carted off late in the Bengals loss to the Bills. It appears he has avoided serious injury. A CT scan of Johnson's neck came was normal. No word on his status for Week 10.
You are a complete TOOL.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. First off, it didn't look like a bad hit. Secondly, Chad put his hands on teh field and started pushing himself up, but then grabbed his helmet and started wiggling around a little. It was after that that he began to just lay there motionless. If it were anyone else but Chad Johnson, this wouldn't even cross my mind, but I can't help but to think that he may have been a bit over-dramatic after the hit. For starters, he hasn't had a touchdown in five weeks. Secondly, he took his third hard hit of the game and they were getting their butt's kicked. I think he may have kind of given-up after that hit and as he laid there, began liking the attention that the doctors and players were giving him.I could be 100% wrong, but that is exactly what I was thinking while I was watching it. The fact that his tests all turned out normal, does nothing to make me change my mind.I bet he doesn't miss a game.
Thanks. Like I said, it was what crossed my mind. I could easily be wrong.I guess we'll know by whether he plays next week. You are a complete TOOL.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. Agree perfectly, He has such a large ego that he'd rather act hurt(while also getting attention) than help his team win. Laying there thinking, "If I stay down i'll at least not have to deal with this emberassment of dropping so many easy balls and underperforming like the average receiver I am". I hate to say it also, but I do believe it was just another Ocho Cinco show, or act.........unfortunatley........and you're right, he won't miss a game. FWIW, a few Bengals fans on one of their message boards were speculating the same thing.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. I had the same thought cross my mind and brought it up during the Colts-Pats game. My brother made a point about the location being Buffalo. They are more likely to take things like this more seriously; in that stadium; this year. He was clearly hurt. He may have been able to get up on his own, but they are going to take every precaution with any injury of that sort.I don't believe that CJ would do something like that. It just crossed my mind. It probably had something to do with the announcers spending half the game talking about his current problems. They really made a mountain out of mole hill. You are a complete TOOL.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. Chad is one of the few players I'd consider who might do this. Me, too. I actually like Chad. He's entertaining. Like you said, we'll never know the truth. It's not like he's going to say this week, "I was having a bad game and they were beating me up, so I thought I'd pretend to be seriously hurt so people would feel bad for me and I'd get on sportscenter".And like I said before, it crossed my mind because I know how Chad works. I could well be wrong. I'm not pretending to have some inside scoop.Chad is one of the few players I'd consider who might do this. Now this is silly, he jammed his neck hard, when they showed the replay you could clearly see it was a nasty collision, don't even compare the two hits. The hit on Everett didn't look bad either.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. What would lead you to believe that it is just "another act of Ocho Cinco". All of his acts revolve around him catching TD passes, and playing hard. You are accusing him of faking a injury, something he hasn't ever done.Agree perfectly, He has such a large ego that he'd rather act hurt(while also getting attention) than help his team win. At the time of the Everett hit it did not look bad at all. It wasn't a particularly viscous hit that you don't see very often, it just popped him the right way. After you know how bad he was hurt, then yes it looks worse and worse everytime you see it. But it didn't look all that bad when it happened. Now this is silly, his neck hard, when they showed the replay you could clearly see it was a nasty collision, don't even compare the two hits. The hit on Everett didn't look bad either.JuniorNB said:I hate to sound cynical, but I was watching the game when it happened and I noticed a few things. When has his theatrics ever been centering around him being injured?? It's always about him getting the ball in the endzone, he has never faked a injury/exaggerated a injury to make himself look better.I'm not saying CJ didn't get hurt, but I would not put it past him to pull some "theatrics"At the time of the Everett hit it did not look bad at all. He's never been playing as bad as he has this year. You do realize this guy is the biggest attention whore in the league, right ? I wouldn't put it past him to quit on his team and fake it when things are going bad, this is a very fragile ego we are talking about. He took a swing at his coach at halftime of a game, I wouldn't put anything past Ocho CincoWhen has his theatrics ever been centering around him being injured?? And he has also talked about how he gets off on Housh doing well because teams are rolling so much coverage over to him. Thus padding his ego more, whether you think he is selfish or not one player from the Bengals has ever called him a horrid temmate. I would never dispute the fact that he is a attention whore, but it's pretty damn nice to see a guy getting attention for semi-humorous celebrations/trashtalking. Rather than players calling their QBs chokers, ####, and doing sit-ups in their driveway. He's never been playing as bad as he has this year.
Did T.O. ever take a swing at his coach at halftime ? Don't kid yourself, this guy is in T.O. territory, and worse than T.O. is right now. He may have been hurt, may not have been, but it wouldn't shock me one bit if he faked it to get out of the game and not have to answer all the questions after the game...And he has also talked about how he gets off on Housh doing well because teams are rolling so much coverage over to him. You do realize this guy is the biggest attention whore in the league, right ? I wouldn't put it past him to quit on his team and fake it when things are going bad, this is a very fragile ego we are talking about...When has his theatrics ever been centering around him being injured?? It's always about him getting the ball in the endzone, he has never faked a injury/exaggerated a injury to make himself look better.I'm not saying CJ didn't get hurt, but I would not put it past him to pull some "theatrics"At the time of the Everett hit it did not look bad at all. When has he ever gone this long without a touchdown to get him onto Sportscenter? This is unchartered water for Johnson. 6 games with no TD, so many missed marketing oppertunities....I hope he is not hurt, but it wouldn't shock me if it was all a show so CJ could get some sympathy. When has he ever gone this long without a touchdown to get him onto Sportscenter? Really, halftime of the 05 Cinncy-Pittsburgh game ring a bell? Last week I read Palmer's lips on the sideline clearly telling CJ to "Shut the f### up".....No TO hasn't. Last year he had 0 TD receptions in weeks 12-17. Going into week 10 last year he had 2 TD receptions, going into week 10 this year he has 3 TD receptions. It's not as uncharted as you seem to believe. When has he ever gone this long without a touchdown to get him onto Sportscenter? This is unchartered water for Johnson.
