Championship game on Christmas day? (1 Viewer)

There are games on Thursday and Saturday but most will be playing for a championship on Christmas day. If I win my money league, I look at it as a bonus Christmas present. Usually I get pretty bummed when my fantasy team loses on Sunday. If you make it and lose, will it ruin your Christmas?

I'd be mad in a few leagues if I get there, but then you just need to step back and realize its just game and what Christmas means. So no...

No, I'm done with letting my fantasy teams ruin my day as I just start laughing now. I was up 30pts and lost to Brees when he played the Giants and I was up 20pts vs Rivers until he played the on MNF vs Jax. and earlier in the season I lost by two vs Plax 3 TDs in one game and Sproles going off...so I've learned just to laugh it off (oh I missed the playoffs by a 1/2 of game).I'm in the playoffs of my other team and will just shrug my shoulders if my team gets beat as it's all luck and you have no control of the situation IMO!

Ruin? No

I'm hoping I can get in against my cousin. It happened a couple of years ago, and I gotta quote my Uncle: "You two are playing for the championship (and a couple hundred $) today? This could be better than Christmas."

I have numerous family members in other leagues, so they "understand". :excited: :boxing:

ETA: Forgot the best part, I had NYJ Laverneous Coles going in the last game of the week (or matchup) and I needed 3 pts to win it all. He got knocked the F out on his first catch and we ended up tying. A sure win lead to a chopped pot in one single play.

Not here. Every other week of the season I have to leave for work just as the 1pm games finish as it's Monday morning, meaning I can't BBQ/drink/enjoy football like you lucky SOB's!

Sure I'll still have to get up at 5am and will be hungover as anything, but it's my one and only chance all fantasy season to have a BBQ breakfast washed down with some morning beers while watching the games.

Your NFL schedule is way different then mine. I see 13 games on Sat Dec 24th & only 1 game on Christmas day.I use a site called NFL.com. It has all kinds of professional football info.

OK, Christmas Eve. Forgot about the Saturday games. It's Christmas weekend!

They could have had a few less games on Christmas Eve by having, instead just the one Monday night game, three games on the day after Christmas, which most people have off this year.

ruin is a strong word. it might make me drink more, but since i have to work on the 26th that won't happen anyway

I love what they've done with playing the games on Saturday. The 1 Christmas game won't be a problem. There is such a huge difference between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Eve I have no problem watching from 1-7:30 as usual. Christmas day I may not turn on a TV.

Its happend a lot over the years for me that the crucial playoff games coincide with my holiday travel and mingling with friends and I always seem to HATE the distraction (because my games are always seemingly hanging in the balance). So I feel bad because i'm half- listening to a conversation or sneaking off to check the score but, at the end of the day, win or lose, I seem to find my perspective. A few years ago I decided that football does not come first during this time and I'm better off for it.

Im sure it will bother me a bit...but has nothing to do with it being on Christmas...more of me going 11-2 and killing it all year...then losing Jennings and Murray on my first round bye and possibly getting beat by a weaker team.

But that is FF...crap happens. I will still enjoy my Christmas and the Packers playing on Christmas day.

I've never been a big fan of doing it, but you could always chop the pot and have your Christmas present "locked in."

Chances are I may check my scores at some point on Christmas day - but Christmas is about Christmas, not football. I'll spend most of the time enjoying food with family and friends, and putting my kids presents together poorly. Now, if I lose I may be mad on Monday when I am not preoccupied with Christmasy things, but I guarantee you I will not spend a great deal of time watching football or tracking my fantasy team much if at all. Chances are, the guy I will be facing (if we both win this week..both are heavy favorites) will be at my house for Christmas anyway and I doubt he'll care much either. Kind of cool getting to face off against close friends in the championship - if you lose, so what...you like the guy that won.

Anyone who let's a FF loss, even in the championship, ruin Christmas or any other holiday needs to take a step back form the computer and put things into perspective.
