The Chargers go to Buffalo following an extremely underwhelming performance last week. The Bills are in good shape injury wise, while the Chargers are still pretty banged up. Merriman returns after his 4 game suspension, and I think he'll be pretty motivated and have the rest of the defense follow suit. The Chargers have not won by less than 7 points all season. I take the Chargers and give the points this week, as I think Marty will have knocked some sense of urgency back into the squad. What say you all?

Why is it a question? The Chargers have no business losing this game, even with their overblown "injury problems".
That seems to be right about the time a team loses a game - when they have no business losing it. They kept the Raiders in the game all last week and didn't cover. Who knows what the Bills will bring. If there wasn't a chance, why play the game right? And why is "injury problems" in quotes? And why are they overblown? You don't think the defense has been hurting pretty bad this past month or so? Castillo is faking the whole high ankle sprain? Really, I'm dying to know, please illuminate us.....

The Bills stadium is a very hostile place to play, I totally expect Tomlinson to run all over the Bills but it wont be enough. Rivers will get pressured and make mistakes, Bills capitolize off the turnovers and with good special teams squeek out the upset win 24 - 20.

Ralph Wilson stadium does provide a real home field advantage for the Bills. The Bills have won their last two games and are at home, but I think the Chargers take it to them this week. The Bills have a very poor 26th ranked rushing D allowing 135 yards a game. That's not going to work against Tomlinson. If the Bills can't stop LT they will not be in this game for very long. I'd give the points.

Tomlinson is going to run wild, and Merriman is going to terrorize Losman all day.

Could get ugly, like last year's pasting was.

I have Buffalo getting demolished. No way they can even hope to contain LT and Turner. I don't care if it's hailing boulders, I still wouldn't touch the Buffalo D in this one.

So the Chargers are still pretty banged up this week.

The Chargers will welcome back linebacker Shawne Merriman from suspension tomorrow, but they'll play for the fourth straight week without defensive end Luis Castillo (ankle) and the second straight without safety Marlon McCree (calf). Both players said they were targeting next week's rematch with Denver for their return.

Also out tomorrow is running back Michael Turner (hamstring). Andrew Pinnock again will back up Tomlinson, and rookie Antonio Cromartie will handle kickoff returns.
I'm getting a bit anxious about having the defense so dilluted - McCree and Castillo are pretty important - they need to get that starting unit back together and rolling into the playoffs. Also keep an eye on Cromartie with the kick returns - he can do some exciting stuff.

Both McCree and Castillo are big losses on D. I would nominate this as a trap game if it were not for Merriman's return. That should pump up the D both from an ability standpoint and an emotional standpoint. The Bills have been riding the Losman/Evans big play connection and I don't see how that can continue with Merriman back. He and Philips both average more than a sack/game. With one of them out you can chip the other side to try and mitigate the damage, but with both of them your big play ability is severely limited.

The thing that's disturbed me the most is that it seems like the Chargers have been giving up 4 or 5 yards a carry the last month or so. If I'm Buffalo I start out by simply trying to ram McGahee and Thomas down the Chargers' throats.
