So AJ Smith runs his mouth and now Mathews is benched because of 1 fumble in his first game after being out for 6 plus weeks.

Does that make sense? I'm not rational right now because of FF but I can't ever recall benching a guy for a series at the start of the game for fumbling. You either play him or you don't. YOu either have confidence he will get it corrected or you don't. Just doesnt make sense to me to sit him for a series like it's a discipline issue.

Makes no sense to me. Maybe they should have taken Rivers out for a series or two for being absolutely worthless.ETA Last week

If this is true, is this mandated by A.J. or is this Norv's decision?Either way, this is a really stupid decision IMO. Mathews fumbled 1 time and lost 0 fumbles in his last 108 touches last season. So after finishing last season strong in that regard, he is subject to being benched after 1 fumble? :thumbdown:
 
Must be a disciplinary issue, like late to the morning meeting or something. I cant catch a freakin break this year.

 
Wrong thread, I know...but that's a kick in the balls when your starting RBs are Charles and Mathews. I'm worried about Mathews prospects for even a modest day if this keeps up.

 
First Tolbert now Battle...Matthews would have more value on just about any other team. Apparently the Chargers don't value him at all.

Come on, MT. Is this what you really believe? Do you really believe Battle is good enough that he should get to alternate series with Mathews. I'd like your honest opinion.

I am a frustrated Mathews owner, but Battle has looked good so far. No reason to stop the time share this game. Although I hope they do for my fantasy team.
 
Mathews had a great catch and run, and his other play he was tackled as soon as he was given the ball.

that's it. not giving him a chance i guess
