**Chargers at Dolphins**(+4, 43.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Chargers offensive line is a disaster area, the Chargers are also trotting out practice squad level running backs and TEs. The Dolphins D will look good.

Chargers defense is vulnerable to routes over the middle, which is Tua's thing. One of the main Charger run stopping DTs is out.

Dolphins 20, Chargers 13 - it'll be a moral victory for the Chargers if Herbert doesn't get injured.

Counter point: Miami has the worst dline in football thus far. Grant has been terrible, Sieler has been bad, Phillips is still recovering from injury. I think Chubb with a 51 pff grade has been the best. Expect Herbert to bounce back.

If C Brewer plays (pectoral), Tua might have enough time to exploit the middle.

Chargers 27, Dolphins, 24.

I'm honestly a little surprised the spread is so low in this one.

I think the Chargers D matches up with Miami's offense really well. Henley is one of best coverage LBs in the NFL, and he'll likely be tasked with keeping track of Achane (unless they surprise and view Achane as such a threat to assign Derwin James to do that, which may slow Achane, but leave Waller more of a threat) and TE stopper Derwin James matching up against suddenly the NFL's hottest TE in Darren Waller. Donte Jackson is one of the few CBs who can keep up with Waddle deep, and I'd expect some bracket coverage on waddle this week, as I think the Chargers can get pressure with 4. Loved the Oweh trade they made and expect him to make an instant impact.

Chargers OL is VERY banged up, but I'm not sure how much the Dolphins can really do about that. I would bet Tua gets sacked more than Herbert, who showed off his wheels last week, and may be asked to do that more often given Chargers RB issues. I expect a very quick pass heavy game plan. I think Quentin Johnston is playing, and think he could have a big YAC game, given his tackle breaking ability. I also think this could be a sneaky game for rookie Orande Gadsden, against his Dad's old team to boot.

I think the Chargers easily cover.

An additional point, Miami had allowed every QB they had faced this season to be a top-5 QB until Bryce Young last week, and Young probably would have too, except Dowdle was too busy being RB1.

Honestly, even with 3rd string OTs playing, and probably no Johnston, I think Herbert is a top-5 QB this week. Miami can't stop ANYTHING.

Chargers are banged
But Dolphins may be just the right opponent this week
Both teams will have their moments
I think the visitors have one more than the home team
so...

Chargers- 26

Fins- 23

Tua with an INT on a pass slightly behind Achane going over the middle - maybe he was protecting him from a defender coming from the other side. Good play by St-Juste. It's also a roster construction issue to not have bigger physical WRs who can go over the middle.

And Tua with another overthrow on a pass to an open Waddle. And sack by Tuli going against none other than the worst rated guard in the NFL, rookie Jonah Savaiinaea who Grier traded UP for in the 2nd round.

Closer to termination day - I blame Grier more than McDaniel.

Waller seeing the field or just good coverage, haven't gotten to see much of this?
He was involved early, Tua with an overthrow on a potential 25+ yard gain. On the bench late as they use the blocking TEs. Just now he was a decoy on a throw to the other TE. He should be in now as they have 1st and goal
Waller wide open crossing through traffic for the TD.

Well, you were right. Lots of futility all around but the Dolphins wanted it less.

This game really hurt me in my wallet. And the reason why is when I made my prediction I said the final score was going to be Dolphins 27, Chargers 26. But then Justin Herbert happened and there went my winnings.
